I wrote this a few years ago when I was in hospital for an operation xx
HOSPITAL
I'm going to have an operation
My bed's beside the nurses station
I'm in beside our Sue and Wilma
And lying on our beds so firma
We pass the time by having a laugh
And chatting to the friendly staff
It really matters if you're stout
Because in paper gowns your bum sticks out
Last night as we were trying to sleep
Around the ward the nurse would creep
She said get up please! Have a shower
Your tea will be in half an hour
Oh! sorry dear we quite forgot
You cannot have some tea that's hot
You'll soon be taken down the stairs
So as for breakfast just you dare

My dear weemam, that's a nice poem !!! Well, next month my father in law has to go back to hospital for next check, so I was thinking to print out your poem and stick it to my father inlaw wall in that hospital room....

You know, I think you are safe posting original humorous poetry. Maybe we should wrack out brains and convert all jokes to rhyming form in couplets, or write a humorous sonnet. It is good to laugh at things like hospital stays. I have been fortunate to have had very few of them, and they usually have been quite nice, believe it or not. What I hate are the interminable tests that must be run to find out if they are going to take it out, stitch it up, give it a new route, or just ignore the problem. Take two aspirin and call me in the morning.

This is a good poem. Thank you for sharing it with us. I can really relate to it because I have been through it several times. I even asked for a larger size gown and the said it is one size fits all. Yah! Right! Maybe if all means people under 125 lbs.

That poem is too cute! I just found out that I will probably be having my gastric bypass surgery within a month (hopefully), and that poem will come in so handy to keep me cheered up and not so nervous. I am going to print it out and keep it with me. Thanks so much for the smile hon.

That's a nice poem weemam! And that was a positive thing that you did in the hospital while waiting for an operation....composing a poem. Some would feel tense and nervous before an operation. I also had some minor operation before and family members having major operation and those occasions made me tense and pray that the operation would turn out successful and alright.

Isn't humor wonderful, weemam? Your poem is really cute. I write poetry off-and-on and enjoy reading it very much. In these dark times we could all use a bit of humor whenever we can get it.

Thanks weemam. I'm having a quiet day, so your poem gave me a smile. Are the hospital gowns made of paper 'in your part of the world?' We have cloth ones here, but they're never big enough 'or' long enough. Have a great day.:)
