Hi everyone! My 6 yr old son has been complaining of a headache all week. We think it could be allergies or a cold that he caught from his cousin. Does your child get headaches? What causes them?

If your son is complaining of a headache for a week, take him to the doctor. He could have a serious sinus infection by now. You should never let a child that young go more than 3 days complaining of a headache before taking hem to the GP or pediatritian

Hi and thanks so much for your response. I have to say its really just been since Wednesday, but to me once the weekend starts then I feel like we are into the next week. I do feel fortunate that my father-n-law is a Dr., and he went to his ball game with us today and he does feel that it maybe sinus related as you said. So again, thanks for the tip and come Monday if its still happening the off to the Dr. we go. Take care.

We went to the Dr. this morning, and the Dr. prescribed new Allergy meds for him. Up until now, he would get a Clariten Redi Tab before bed. Now he will have a nose spray and new oral meds. Thanks so much!

My 10 year old has migraine head aches. His doctor told me to give him diet mountain dew, tylenol, a cold wash cloth for his head and a dark room. His headache goes away fast and he's out the door playing in no time. I don't know why he gets them just that the remody from his doctor works great.

Why diet mountain dew? Anything with caffiene will work.. that is the point of the soda and mountain dew does have more then most sodas but I would say cut out the diet part. I'm not sure what kind of sweetner it uses but aspertame and sacchrine (sp?) can cause migraines. I know this first hand. And even though it would seem logical that Splenda shouldn't since it is made from sugar, I find that if I have something with splenda in it more then once in a while that it too causes a migraine. Be careful with any diet products! I have suffered from migraines since I was a child.

We went to the Dr. this morning, and the Dr. decided to change his allergy meds. We're going to keep an eye on the headaches, because if this doesnt take care of it then we go from there. Thanks!

I'm not sure I just do what the doctor said and it works. Mostly it has to be something high in caffine. The school nurse will not let him have regular Mountain Dew because of sugar. At home he drinks a cup of strong coffee and has tylenol. i suffer from muscle tention headaches and I have a pill called Esgic Plus which his treatment equals what I take without the prescription pain medicine.

You really should take him to the Dr. This could be sinuses or migraines or even something more serious. Are there any other symptoms going along with this? If you have tried giving him tylonal and that doesn't help then it's time for a visit to the Dr for sure.
