Since both major political parties seem to focus more on creating a safe and profitable business climate for major corporations, where are people to go who would like to focus their political energy on making this country and the world a better place for all people?
The ideals that serve as the foundation of this country seem to be perfectly sound but the current government structure doesn't support or promote Life, Liberty or the Pursuit of Happiness for any except for a very fortunate few.
I would like to start a conversation about serious issues, recognition of the value of labor and labor rights, access to education, universal health care, environmental concerns, alternative energy possibilities.
What I am not interested in is media "hot button" issues. On Gay Marriage I think that gays should have the same rights and privileges as every one else. Abortion is a private issue, if you don't believe that abortion is a good option, don't have one. Assult rifles are not sporting gear. You don't go hunting with hand guns. Drug use/abuse is a problem made worse by the drug laws. Education and opportunity might be better solutions than imprisonment. Domestic surveillance is a no-no. Torture as not an acceptable policy.
