Do you READ other people's RESPONSES in a DISCUSSION?

I've realized most times I respond here on MyLot to a question, I only read what was written by the started of the discussion, and cast my answer to his question, not bothering to read what other people might have said.
What about you? Do you take the time to read the whole discussion, and make a post concerning things other people said? Do you comment other people's posts? Do you read them after posting your answer? Or do you just answer the top question?

Don't be sad, at least you got a Golden Star...Mine is brown, brown like...you know...
Now about your discussions, you should try to start a discussion wich anyone could like and want to answer, not a very specific question wich only a few people would bother even reading.

You need to add more friends to your friends list. A lot of people go straight to the "discussions my friends have started" category and don't look elsewhere. If you are not on people's friends' list your discussions won't be seen by many.
Personally, I go to discussions in my interests first, and then friends discussions.

If I use the link from my e-mail I don't read other responses because I go straight to the reply box, if I'm just browsing I do read other responses and comments.

It all depends on the type of discussion. If someone has started a discussion that I would use personal experience to answer then I just go ahead and respond without looking at anyone else's responses. If it is a discussion asking people for a certain type of recipe or something then I will check to make sure that I am not giving a similar response as someone else. I try to make sure that I am sharing something different.

I usually do take the time to read other people's responses because often if the original poster has responded to some of them already it can provide more information on the issue they are talking about. Obviously if there is a lot of responses - say 4 or 5 screens like this one - then I don't read every single one. I quite often leave comments on someone elses response though - sometimes they're more interesting than the original discussion topic.

If I post through the email link, obviously I cannot read the other responses first. But I do read them after I post my own response. I try and read all the responses and even comment on a few. Usually if there are more than five pages of responses I don't read all of them, or sometimes skim through them. But I do try and read and comment on others' responses as well as the original discussion.

Really nice question to ask,for me its normally when i dont understand the topic or whats the user trying to convey ,i read the other responses so that i can get feel or glimpse of the topic and depending on those responses i post my reply, while in the rest of cases i strongly portray or post what i feel rather than looking at other's responses.

Yeah, I do read through the responses. Actually, that may be a downfall as to my earnings on this site. Sometimes I get so caught up in reading that I forget to respond myself. Especially in some of the political or current event type discussions.
Sometimes I do comment on the responses as well as the original post, but usually only if I really feel the need to!

I normally reply through my email notification and don't often see what others have posted until I go into the discussion itself, then I glance through and see what others have said.
Sometimes I don't quite understand what the poster is asking, so I do go and check out the responses just to make sure I was on the right track LOL I usually read the first two pages and that's about it.

Yes, I do make a habit to read through the responses to the discussions I am interested in.
I don't want my answer to say exactly the same thing that someone else has already said.
Plus, alot of times you can pick up tips and ideas and information on things that you were not aware of before.

It depends on the discussion really. Sometimes I read all the responses before I respond and sometimes I read all the responses and don't respond myself. Other times I read a few of the responses and then respond or not and sometimes I just respond without looking at any of the responses at all. As I said it all depends on the discussion in question.

I usually try and read all the posts in the thread. It gives me a good perspective of how others perceive a discussion or think about a topic. But if a discussion has too many responses, eg. more than 40 or 50, then I will do selective reading of posts. Also, at times before I respond, if I find that many people have said exactly the same thing, I may withhold responding so as not to repeat, or I find something else to say in my response.

If the answer to the question needs a real answer like "who was the actress that played in that movie" I'll look to see if the answers are correct and/or if I can add something to the answer that someone else hasn't already said.
Otherwise... if it's an opinion type question I usually just scan the other answers because everyones opinions are different and it doesn't always matter whether someone has the same opinion as you.
