Here are some websites I have found for writers to make some extra cash.
Associated Content--doesn't pay for poetry or short stories but does pay for reviews, articles, term papers and the like. They pay $3-$20 for each submission that is accepted. There is a review period for articles submitted for payment.

Helium.com (please private message me with your email for an email referral)
Pays for all types of articles, debates, reviews, poetry, short stories, just about every kind of writing. They pay a portion of what the advertisers pay to be placed on the page with your work. There is no review period and the other members of the helium community rate your work.
Constant Content

Allows you to submit blogs, articles, reviews and other forms of writing that can be purchased by others to put on their websites. They even have a section where buyers can request material. You set the price, but the article must be reviewed and found to be grammically correct by their editors before it accepted and put on the website.
I believe all three of these sites pay by paypal. Each of them have different threshholds for payment. Each pay at the first of the month. Associated Contant pays as your articles are accpeted. Helium has a $25 minumium earned before payment and Constant Content has a $50 minumium earned before payment. Even though I haven't been paid by any of these sites yet, they all seem like worthwhile sites to me. And others have told me of the success they have had with these sites. Will keep you updated as to my success with these sites.
Referrals Helium and Constant Content (I don't know about associated content) offer kickbacks for refferals. So you can make some extra cash up to 5% by their refferal systems.
Happy writing all.

Sounds quite an interesing proposal. It's good to see that not only discussion is being sponsored by sites like MyLot, but also that the creative spark of the human being is given it's proper value by these sites on the internet. I'm going to take a look at these urls, and I'd like indeed to see how you fare on these sites before trying my own attempt at making money this way, tough.
