Which Megaman X game was the best?

Here's an interesting question. I know there are some people that actually have played this series and it is the next step after the Classic Megaman series. The series started in 21XX with a new line of robots and the ones remembered from the Classic are presumed dead or in hiding. I'll say they're dead most likely. A new hero arises with Megaman X and who would be known as his partner Zero would be the Maverick Hunters that would hunt down Mavericks. They were in the battle with the evil Sigma, who had turned evil after a battle with an evil Zero at the time before X was around. There were 9 official games that follow in order with the last one being Command Mission. I don't consider it a different series or a different timeline since it has X, Zero, and new character Axl, who was introduced in Megaman X7. I only say 9 because they follow each, I'm well aware of the Gameboy ones and they're in between some of the X games. The 1st 3 X games were put on the SNES. They were pretty good games I thought and then came one of my personal favorite games in the X series in Megaman X4. You can play as either Megaman X or Zero and there are 2 different endings depending on the characters. I enjoyed X5 and X6 but I don't rank them higher than X4. I never played X7 so I don't know if that's any good or not but I have played X8 and I like this. I rank this actually near X4 to be quite honest. But overall, my favorite was actually Megaman X4 of the games listed. Which one would be your favorite?
