What makes a true father.

As they say any guy can be a father but it takes a true man to be a dad. What do you think it means to be a father and a dad? My son has a father but he doesn't ever see him nor does he even know who he is. But my son also has a dad who he loves and cares about deeply. For me it takes love, trust, dependablity, and true effort to be a dad. And as for being just a father all that takes is 5 mins in the bed. No effort no trust no dependablity.

I have to say that my 1-year-old son has a wonderful dad, and it takes a lot to make that so. Tonight when my husband was getting ready for work, my son had just had a nightmare and I was consoling him... and my husband put everything on hold until he knew that Dustin was feeling better! Not only that, but he works nights and watches our son during the day most days, because our schedules just work out that way. That's the kind of true dedication that I think makes a dad!
It's amazing to me how little attention the good dads get in this world, because I'm always having people ask me questions about my son as if my husband wouldn't know, or asking if he "helps out enough" when I'm really the one who helps out less these days, due to illness and work schedules.
I didn't have a very good father myself, but as I watch my husband, I am learning exactly what a good father is, and I feel so blessed that my son has one!

My son and duaghter have 2 different fathers but share the same dad. see my sons father hasn't seen him in over a year due to the fact that he has a "new" family that he i guess finds more important. But thats ok cuz my duaghters father has taken my son on as his own which i never ask nor expected him to do.
