Chakvetadze won her second title in her career in this Wimbledon warmup. She and Jankovic are both in the top of the draw and most likely Chakvetadze will have to beat Hingis to get to Jankovic who is seeded higher. Hingis beat Chakvetadze in Montreal in 2006 in a very strange match. Hingis was sluggish and admitted to having heavy legs and thus she was not moving well. Chakvetadze eventually became injured and finally withdrew. Hingis was winning even before the injury. This should make for an interesting few matches in that part of the draw.

Yes, I do agree with you. Unlike the mens side; where there are only a handful of players capable of defeating Roger due to his powerful forhand and placement of serves. I think Maria Sharapova has no chance of making it past the first few rounds - since she hasn't been playing well the last few months. Ana has indeed been playing well and she will be in the top 3 in the World at the end of this season - no doubt. Hingis just doesn't have enough power that is neccessary to defeat the new breed of power-enhanced baseline players from Russia and surrounding areas. I would expect the following players to edge deep into the tournament: Paddy Schnyder, Jankovic and Justine Henin.

I was suprised that Chakvetadze beat Jankovic, especially after seeing a vid of her match against Hingis at Montreal last year. Sharapova has been erratic and her serve has been a real problem lately. I may have to disagree with you about Patty Schnyder, I'm not sure she will go too far on grass. Then there are always the Williams sisters to consider. Ana Ivanovic is one to watch, she beat Hingis in the final in Montreal last year and of course was in the finals of the French Open where she was overwelmed by the occasion as much as anything else. If Hingis is healthy and can make it far enough to get match tough after her layoff, she might suprise in some matches. With her on court thinking she could get match tough quicker than many players.
