Who invented the internet?

I heard that Gore did but no one seems to beleave that. Do you know who did it? It is hard to beleave that one person could be so smart. I'm so imprest with the net. When I was young they still had party lines. Now I can send an email to the other side of the world in just seconds. Wow that is way cool.

I don't know where you heard that Al Gore invented the Internet, because he actually never had a part in this whole [invention of the Internet].
No one person invented the Internet.
There have been several people involved in the invention of the Internet and Al Gore isn't one of them.

Al Gore was only instrumental in making the legislation that made the WWW accessible to the world at large. The internet was a concept that was developed by different people at different times. I found a brief explanation about the early development of the Internet on this website:
