Tagalog is our Language. We filipinos say "Salamat" to thank another person.. There are many dialects here in the Philippines but I don't know if we have the same language to "salamat".. How about your language? How do you thank each other?
Don't read the responses yet! Post your response first please?! Salamat!!

In the U.S. it is "Thank you" or simply "Thanks". And usually the other person responds with "You are welcome." But recently I've noticed more and more people responding with "No problem."
That seems strange to me. I can understand "You are welcome to [whatever it is I did or said or gave you]." But what does "no problem" mean? Does it mean doing or saying or giving whatever is not a problem for me? Well, doesn't that sound kind of egocentric or rather patronizing? To me it really devalues whatever it is you are being thanked for, as if the other person doesn't really matter much.
Is anyone else bothered by that?

I think the response "no problem" is more appropriate to use if someone says "I'm sorry" am I correct? But you can also use the response "no problem" to mean "you're welcome" depending on the situation, i think... ^___^ Anyway, thank you! :)
