I was about to go to Scotland on August with my best friend and two or three friends of hers. But she has just been hired for a new job and therefore we cannot go all together anymore. So I have to find a new solution for my summer holidays. And I have no idea where to go and I am so happy for my friend but so disappointed that I am left alone. And what about you? Have you already planned your summer holidays??

Afraid because of finances no holiday planned for me this year although I would have loved to have made a trip to Colorado and California to visit with 2 oldest sons and their families. I miss them all dearly but not going to happen this year. Praying they will come home to visit soon.

Afraid money is not so much the problem with the boys as scheduals - oldest one owns his own construction business in Colorado and this is really really busy time for him plus he can't seem to find reliable workers. #2 son is still in Air Force although not being sent overseas anymore he is swamped with new job in design and engineering.
Getting settled in slowly and actually it's going better than I expected. Grandkids sleep late so that gives me quiet mornings to work. Afternoons I've been doing gardening and some yard work - even mowed a couple acres the other day, love having a riding mower to use and got some fresh air and sun :) Still an ackward situation but making the most of it.

People in Europe are always taking vacations in summer for at least 2 weeks, but most of them for one month.
Here in USA most people have short vacations, maybe one or two weeks.
Most people can not take long vacation.
I take my time off usually in spring and fall, because it is so nice to be in Chicago during the summer...

Hello Maribea. I am afraid that We can not go anywhere because of a lack of money. We spend most of our extra money taking care of our autistic son. I hope that someday god gives us the gift of having hem talk again like he did before he got the MMR shot and became autistic. When I was a boy we used to travel some out west. It is so pretty out there. I hope that someday you can see the Grand Canyon and west Texas.

What caused my son to become autistic was the mercury preservative used in the MMR shot he received when he was 12 years old. We are still trying to get him well from the mercury.

oh albert I am so sorry...truly sorry for your son and what you are feeling for him...do you mean that he experienced a sort of trauma and then became autistic? If so, he may recover one day when he learns how to deal with the trauma. I am sending all my affection to you all and I thank you for coming here and answering to my silly discussion!!!

hi mb. We the south asians have many charms to enjoy their summer holidays in their own countries. Hill stations in our country Pakistan become rich with the rush of technicolor people fron in and out of the country. We also use to go to Abbotabad, Muree, Nathiya Gali and adjacent Galiyat to enjoy the summer holidays and also to escape from the heat of summer season. But this year heay rain occured which is causing to discourage. But many are going and climbing on hill station. We along with our family members are also planning to reach there. How the scotland looks like. August is not away. Wish you best of luck.

So sorry to hear that your plans for holiday have fizzled out. We haven't planned anything more than day trips for our summer fun. We hope to take a holiday at the beginning of October. This will be to celebrate our 9th anniversary.
Our summer days are mainly spent in our garden. That is of course when the weather permits. Today it is another ever changing day weather wise. This morning it was sunny and blue skies. Then it quickly clouded over. I changed from my shorts and tank top to short sleeved shirt and slacks. Now as I type this the sun is coming out again and the clouds are breaking and the sky is now showing blue splendor. Who knows. Maybe we will be able to venture out to pick those strawberries after all!

oh what a changeable weather you have, even in summer..it is very strange for a person like me who lives in Italy and it is used to hot and sunny summers. we call it strange and are very unhappy when it rains in summer time...anyway I love strawberries and I would be happy to help you with them!!!!
