Summer here in the midwest United States has so many great features. I love all the different shades of green, especially in early evening when the shadows are just beginning to fall. Out on the golf course, so many different birds are singing their melodies. Various types of bugs add their chirping and hissing sounds. Bullfrogs are bellowing out their deep croaks. All those colors and sounds make summer such a relaxing time. What do you like about this time of the year?

BBQ grills and swimming pools of course. It gets pretty hot here in Bama as well. I'm just glad I don't have to toat a coat around all day. Plus I shoveled snow for 8 years. So I can't complain about a little heat. I don't ever want to freeze again.

I have to admit, I don't care for shoveling snow either. It can get pretty deep here after a good Midwestern blizzard. And the cold bothers me more every year. But the high temperatures combined with high humidity aren't so great either. That's why I like the change of seasons, I guess. I wouldn't want either cold or heat all year round.

I guess you are right. I don't like that it gets so hot myself. Somewhere in the middle would be great. I do think the 4 seasons are overrated. Maybe I'm not an outdoor person. I only see green on the golf course.

Hello former Fremonter! I went to Midland College here, but lived in Western Nebraska when the Pathfinder blew up. That was quite a shock. I've now been back here in Fremont for 27 years, and just retired, and plan to stay. My family is all close by. I'm sure you don't miss the heat and humidity of this area. Michigan sounds much cooler for the summer. I'm sure it is much cooler during winter also. lol. Thanks for your response!

I like Summer, I like to plant flowers in My yard, I like going places, we just to two trips this week-end as you well know. I hate the winter, I wish I could live somewhere where the weather is always nice, 75 everyday Now that is good weather.

75 everyday would be nice, although I really like the change of seasons. Fall and spring are nice until they lead to extreme cold or hot. Mid-winter and mid-summer are not really that great. We can get over 100 here, and 20 below zero in winter. I don't care for those extremes.

What I like about summer is the lower gas bills..In the winter we have to pump up the heat and thus ..the bills are higher.. I also love the flowers and green colors that take over.+

Summer is my favorite season.I like planting a garden with all kinds of veggies. I also plant all kinds of flowers, roses are my favorite. I like the summer because it stays light out longer and you can spend more time outside.

I used to plant a garden every spring. I grew up on a farm, so I guess planting was in my blood. I really enjoyed getting it ready, watching the first plants come up. But later in the hot summer, I didn't enjoy it when the weeds grew faster than my veggies. Then I got busier with my job and couldn't keep up like I wanted to. So I planted it all in grass. Now that I am retired, I might have to think about it again. Gardening is a good way to pass time.

I don't like Summer at all. It is hot and humid. I enjoy Spring and Fall seasons. During Spring and Fall, the weather is not too hot and too humid.

I agree. I like Spring and Fall better also. We have temperatures in the 90s the past few days and the humidity was 89% yesterday. It almost feels like a sauna outside.

Oh, ice cream and vacations. What could be better? I eat way too much ice cream (at least I think my doctor might say so.) And I don't limit it to just summer. I eat ice cream all year around! Have a great summer and enjoy your ice cream.

I hope you are sitting in an air conditioned room while you are typing and watching the birds. It can get very hot and muggy in Nebraska also. Our air conditioners have to work pretty hard some days. Enjoy your summer!

hI Danamark...your comments could fit into a discussion I posted 'on the lighter side' because you said I made you think too much. Will be interested to see what you add to the 'what is fun...and how do you follow your bliss?' Sounds like you are following your bliss on during the lazy days of summer...without the worry of having a root canal. Good stuff...and keep swinging your golf and tennis rackets and enjoy it while you can. Cheers!
