I am wondering what everyone's nicknames for their family members is in the privacy of their own home or in public. I am confused and thought that I would get oppinions from other people that aren't from the site that I just got in trouble on.
I belong to Prariehomemaker.com becasue it is helping me get my house together and advice when I need it. They wanted to know what everyone's nicknames are and my hubby and I call each other "Wife" we call the girls "Buggly" for my little one in my pic and my oldest used to be Lardbutt and when I have to page her in a store with her dad she is LardButt because I refuse to have a nickname for a 2yr old that you would associate to them because it makes it easier to point them out. My oldest that is sometimes called Lardbutt is a skinny toddler so you wouldn't associate it with her. Well apparently my calling Tom "Wife" is disrespectful and so I apparently don't respect him because he is suppossed to be my "head" and after people started getting mad about it last night we had a talk and he likes us calling each other "Wife" because it is different. Someone or multiple someones on there also decided that Buggly means Butt Ugly. My littlest is Buggly because when she was born Jenniffer was Peanut so since her name is Lilly and she was kinda small also I started calling her my Lilly Bug and that got shortened to Buggly. My hubby thinks that they are overreacting.
I am looking for some opinions on what your nicknames for family members are.
Thank you for the responses!

I don't know if you received the first response. Darn I'll do it again. I was saying do you happen to have a myspace? lol...I was ranting a little yesterday too! I even posted some of the nasty letters that they had sent to me. grrrrr. As for the nicknames. Who cares? Kids LOVE them and are NOT embarassed by them until they are pre-teen. They were more than over reacting they were being down right judgemnetal! It is not their job to judge. And just FYI I found another forum called online christian parents. Much less judgemental...AND they have GAMES! Only bad thing is it isn't all WOMEN. But oh well right. If you have a myspace come check mine out at myspace.com/ssatinbutterfly.
Your name is fine. You shouldn't even have to explain. lol...who doesn't have nicknames?

Yep, my myspace is myspace.com/recipiecollector. I don't know your last name or email address so I couldn't add you though so you will have to add me. I can't believe that everyone was so upset because of a nickname. Whenever I came across a thread that I didn't agree with I didn't whine and cry until certain people got in trouble I simply was a big girl and went and looked at something else. My hubby Tom says that maybe it is time for me to find somewhere different to go.

I think as long as your family doesn't mind no one else should either. I thought the nickname Buggly had to do with a bug like you said...never thought it meant butt ugly.
My Mom called me Elephante when I was little b/c I loved elephants. When we had foster kids they called me Mama T and Hubby calls me Pookie. I call my Hubby Bugbear. My Brothers are Boobie (only my Mom calls him that) or Bones, Worm and Fatrat. My Nephew is Little Bones and my Niece is Needle Butt. They are just nicknames and not meant to be hurtful or disrespectful.
We had one foster kid we called Cotton...when we stopped calling her that she thought we were mad at her so we went back to using it.

I've never encountered that kind of thing before personally. I think it's sad when other people criticize such personal things like that. You know that those names are said in a loving way within your family and that's all that matters. I would have an issue if you were calling an overweight child Lardbutt as a way to be demeaning but obviously that isn't what you are doing.
By the way my oldest daughter was little when she was born and her name is also Lilly...you guessed it, we call her Lilly Bug too! If we shorten it, it's just to Bug now.

I had nicknames for almost all my kids, some are embarrassing for them now. I called my 21 yr old David "Wavy Davy" Or "wave of the future" and "babyball" he had a very round head, Adam was "precious" he is now 18 yrs old,Ricky is "rooni" or "gooni" or "roon" and my daughter we call "boobie" she was a boobie baby forever. I call my s/o "Mr. Package, Pack, packagie or just package" because he looks good in Levi's (ha ha) How embarrassing for the ones I love!

I think if your family doesn't mind these nicknames, it's no one else's business. We use to call my Goddaughter "Booger-snot-face" NOT because she was ever dirty or messy, but because she was so retentive, even as a little kid about ever getting dirty. She just couldn't stand to be messy. So it was just good-hearted, silly teasing; that she didn't mind at all. If it had bothered her, we would have stopped.
