Satanism

A Religion is a set of beliefs & practices generally held by a community involving adherance to codified beliefs and rituals, and study of ancestral or cultural traditions, writings, history and mythology, as well as personal faith and mystic experience. In this case, this should mean everyone is entitled to their own opinions and beliefs without being judged by others whom do not share their beliefs...? Wrong! I think the Religious effect on the community now-a-days is wrong. I am Satanic, and when ever I say that to people, they look at me with disgust because without a doubt, they probably automatically assume that I kill children or animals for rituals! This is not the case, but I understand why people assume the worst of me, because they are unknown to the actual facts of Satanism. Unfortunately, Satanism is not the only Religion that is misunderstood. Sadly, Schools and Colleges do not teach their pupils ALL facts for ALL Religions. If asked, would you be able to name every single Religion of the World? I doubt that very much. Off the top of your head, I'd guess you would be able to name at least 5, 10 if your lucky! I think it is morally wrong for Schools and Colleges to teach Religion, especially if they are not going to teach ALL Religions! Shouldn't we be allowed to choose our own Religion as we get older, based on our personal experiences, opinions and beliefs? My Nephew attends a Church Of England Primary School. He is made to believe in God, without a choice of his own! Granted, he is only 9yrs old, however, when he grows up, does this mean he will not learn about other Religions, because the God has been pushed on his from a young age? Do you think Religious judgement is wrong? What Religion are you, and are you proud for it to be known? Was you Religion forced upon you, or was you allowed to choose your own Religion as you grew older? Do you think Religions that are misunderstood such as Satanism should be banned or even forgotten, or do you actually think these Religions should be made more public to enable the public to understand them more? Do you think people should be judged by their Religions, and if so why?

Wow, that's a lot of questions! =p I too am a member of a misunderstood religion, as I am a Celtic Reconstructionist Pagan. I think it is ridiculous that often in schools only one or a few major religions are taught, and it's frustrating to me that so many people grow up with misinformation because of it. Where I live in the United States, technically it is supposed to be secular schooling, but when I was still a child there was much Christianity taught in my school. In fact, I was pretty much ostracized for my religious beliefs ever since kindergarten. I have the beliefs I have for a number of reasons, but the first place I learned about them was from my great-grandmother when I was a small child. There were many people of different religions among my family members, but she was one of few people who was kind to me, and the Gods that she followed also showed me kindness in many ways. So naturally that was the path that I chose to follow in my own life. I have my own child now, and my husband has a different religion than I do. We are going to teach our son about many paths, and let him make his own choices. I suppose I still can't say that I will be able to teach him about every religion in the world, but I do hope to give him a broad spectrum of religious education! I never judge people by their religions, but rather by their actions. I know many people of different religions, and count them among my friends. The only time when religion has been an issue between myself and other people was in their unreasoning hatred towards my own religion, without knowing or understanding anything about it.
