Are There Spies Amongst Us?

There are a lot of accounts being blocked and a lot discussions getting deleted this days. This has led to wonder if there are members here who work for mylot as moderators and have the discretion to delete and/or ban members without even mylot knowing about. I know of some forums that let some older members help out in this manner.

Hello 2wicelot! This is really painful that it has happened to some members. I personally don't know but I am told by some friends with evidences that there are some people who act like a police and/or a gang mentality. Someone even said that he/she will protect his/her friends' posts. I see those people's discussions staying while being equally abusive as the other opposite discussions are. These people also enjoy a privileged status here. I really wonder when I see members who vehemently state that they believe in freedom of expression yet they act in a way which belies their claims. I see people who say that they are tolerant and respectful but in the same breath they are name calling, abusing and hateful. I havent seen more intolerant people like them here. It really pains me to see such levels of hypocrisy. I think Mylot administration should be in control of what is going on here. I have seen, in the last couple of weeks, that situation is relatively better here than a little before when many people were getting banned. I don't think there should be hiding moderators from within the community. If there has to be, they should be open in public or there shouldn't be any or at least not part of the community themselves. I think I have written much and I may be banned for writing such things...No Problem:-)

You are very right kamran. Over the past few days, I have seen discussions by members who have taken it upon themselves to "police" this forum. I wonder why they take that serious. As you said, if anyone is going to police this forum, it should be mylot admin itself or some external and neutral party. A member may get another banned for simply disagreeing with them or just out of jealousy for having better posts and stuff like that. I think this was supposed to be a forum where we interacted and had fun with one another, but it seems I may be wrong.

My whole point is very well summed up by you that it is a forum for fun. I would like that there shouldn't be a person from within us (community) who has more rights than others and who has friends to favor and enemies to take revenge from.

I have people on my post that are scared to comment for this reason, I feel its very sad that mylott has so many guidelines that its not a discussion but a matter of what we can and cant do. I havent worked it out yet either but I have seen discussions this week were people are naming cheaters and I havent got a clue what a cheater could possibly be doing here on mylot. Its all a bit over the top. Goodluck to you 2wicelot and I hope you can keep your discussion.lol

Hi tredale, I actually saw that discussion too and the surprising thing is the person who started could not say what or who a cheater is. I am afraid they could just witch hunt people and get them a bad name here at mylot or worse get them banned. A person may disagree with another or may be just not like their avatar and that could be it. I think if there is any policing to be done here, it shouldn't be from the members but from and independent external source. Members should just hit the ! once if they don't like a discussion and that should be it.

There are a lot of people that decide that they are self appointed police and report anything that they consider to be against the rules. Some times it is justified but other times it is just them having no life and have to stir up trouble. I have several friends that have had very good topics and then some one comes in and gives a completely unconnected response and then the whole discussion gets whipped off the site.

That is quite unfair. I noticed that there are a lot of people who really take mylotting too seriously. I believe this should be a place to make friends and have a lot of fun. Thanks for the response.

Do you mean there are those who are playing God? Well we Christians are being accused of pushing our morals, but this is different. There are people who report anyone who disagrees with them, not just giving them the minus, but actually accusing them of not following the guidelines. Well you know that myLot will often delete that person's post because they believe that the person reporting is not doing it out of spite when she actually is. I do believe there should be a checking up, like someone who will read through the reported posts and then there should be ruling that no one should be deleted unless they did not follow the guidelines and anyone reporting falsely should be on notice and after a certain number their rating should go down or be forced to leave.

That's a good possibility. I have also been a member of other communities where they have managers to help patrol the site. We knew they were there tho and got warnings. lets hope your wrong on this one!

I hope I am too. But if there were, I think it would be fair for the community to be told about their existence. So far I only see members who start discussions saying they are going to "police" this site.
