can man live without religion

religion is practiced in different parts of the world more strictly than others.religion provide us the ethical living standards while science tells us the safe and economical living.and without economy mankind cant reach its hight of evolution.can man live without religion?

I guess more than religion what matters is self -belief ,one should not practise or follow religion blindly just for sake of following it or preaching it ,what matters the most is essence of religion and waht it preaches and whether its correctly understood and implemented by people rather than leading to schisms and troubles due to ego conflicts.
