A discussion about Religion brings up an interesting question... Can you answer?

Our world currently has a major problem, nobody knows what the right thing to do is, or do you?
What do we do about the Middle East?
What is the cure?
What do you think should be the plan to end the war?
The floor is now yours...

I know this may sound overly simplistic...but a comment from a presentor in a public forum I attended last week put it this way..."most of our world and human rights issues could be resolved it we could learn to love, honor and respect each other more." That really resonated for me and I started thinking that if we could truly, love and treat each other the way we'd like to be treated it could reduce polarized, judgemenal thinking and create a forum for respectful dialogue. From there we could move in effective problem solving, reduce fear-based thinking and allow intelligent, rational minds to problem solve whatever we had to resolve. We have to start somewhere and respectful dialogue works for me...in large and small areas.

I think your situation points out the fact that governments can not fix this situation. Any meaningful progress is acheived when people who are successful in other areas of their life find a cause to work for and others join them. In order for good people who may have some prejudices (which they admit to) to be motivated to reach out to others who are not like them they must have organizations and outlets to discuss their concerns and find information to help them. This is the root of social change which often gets overlooked because it is slow and sometimes painful.
I try to do this on a smaller level I am of moderate means but I will do what it takes to help others around me to the best of my ability.
Thank you for reminding me one volunteer situation I had ended a while ago and I have been a little lax in finding a new one.
Politicians are not interested in true problem solving. They can not be when most of there energy is focused on destroying the other party and preventing them from being successful in passing even good legislation. If it takes 2 years to gear up a presidential campaign or slightly less for senator of congressman who has time to develop and implement practical solutions with all that mud slinging to do.
The reason why people like Lee Iacocca or Bill Gates do not run for president is that they can do more good on their own. Why would they put up with Politics.
Oh well enough venting for one day. I am so happy to see one more moderate and positive voice on mylot. I keep getting tied up with all these wannabe shock jocks on this site. -- If you know what I mean. Yes this means you Buffy and Herrbaggs too! Some others as well.

This might come as a shock to you Fuzzybluebathcoat... But I'm much more moderate than you give me credit for, and the slow social pace can move really quickly and fix the mess that has been created when we fix those in politics that are making mud out of good land.
Hi Perspectives, I agree with you about the respectful dialogue, it is hard to bite down on my toungue sometimes, sending in more troops is only going to stir things up, escalation of war is escalating war, if it is done there or here, a price will be paid...
I know there is another and better way...

I think that we all are passing through an era where the religions are going to replace as a guidelines for the people. Politics and systems have no such capacity. Only spirituality has the way and science may stan=d ibn support for... New transformation is the only way beause of overall situation.
There may be scientific spirituality or spiritual science and its application will have to take place and such thing will happen, one can assume; because of under currents, like spreading of yogas and positive thinking, spirituaal seeking and new age kind of thing and healing processes!

Hi Healwell,
I think you are so right there is a big change around the corner for a new tomorrow a better tomorrow, one that is filled with peace and harmony.
The stars are beautiful, there is much to know and share, but we are well on our way, the new movement, "The Evolution of Religion." - GJL :)

Other than what oneandonemakesix solutions are I cant really say there is any real solution for the mess in the middle east. But if 9/11 was the fall out for decades of being involved in the middle east how much worse will it be to what we have to face in the future.
Violence begets violence and with all that is going on today are children's children will be suffering the long term effects of things to come in my opinion.
I think we should definately look at other options of fuel than just oil but I cant say for sure that would put an end to our involvement in the middle east but it certainly seems to be what makes the world go around today.
Who knows, if we ever stop using fossil fuels things might end up being in a worse state than they are now.

The truth is that we don't know what to do because we do not know how others will act.
Personally, I believe the war is on Bush Sr., and Bush Jr. is just pushing it further...Bush Sr. made many enemies in his term, Clinton was a dumbshit, and Bush Jr. thinks he's doing the right thing.
Also, I don't think Hilary, wife of Bill Clinton, should be president. I'm not trying to be sexist here, but let's face it, she cannot run. Blaming family disruption on kids actions? Accusing video games of crimes? What the hell is she thinking? She's acting so trivial and we're in the middle of war on terrorism...
We need a leader who has a plan they can follow through with. Not an idealist, a realist.
