Uploading photos and monitoring content.

I am new to myLot so there is probably a lot that I don't understand. Maybe someone can help. I have not yet added any pictures to my profile, so I tried to do that only to read at the bottom of the form that i have reached my maximum number of picture uploads and that I should try again later. None is a pretty small quota. So how does one upload pix to one's profile of post a new avatar. Also, I started a discussion on politics that included references to topics that have been in the news in recent months such as marriage between people of the same gender and had the post flagged as "mature content". Now there weren't any off color references, obscene words or even a discussion of the pros or cons, merely the use of a couple of words in close proximity. Wow!
