Sometimes she puts her paw on my nose or my mouth almost like she is telling me to hush or something. Its very cute, but I was wondering if anyone else's cat shows this behavior. And if anyone knows what it means please enlighten me!

Maybe your cat is trying to tell you your breath stinks. Just kidding. I've had cats pretty much all my life and a lot of them did this. It must be the movement of your lips or maybe they like the color or who knows. At least the cat didn't claw you there. My brother and I were "rescuing" my mom's cat from her roof one day. I told my brother to grab the cat behind the neck and pick her up and bring her down(It immobilizes them) Unfortunately he got the cat too close and the cat clawed his lip and he let go and the cat was swinging by his lip! It cut his lip obviously but man that was funny!(He thought so too later)

They are caves, therefore, must be examined! Also, some cats will put a paw on the nose as a "brace" for them or they don't want to be held at that moment and make a "barrier" so you will put them down.

thats funny you should bring this up as my cat did this the other day. I was holding her and talking to her when she reached up her paw to my lip. And yes, it seemed like she was trying to hush me. I', guessing that kittens like to attack anything that moves and if you were talking to her, your lips were moving. Be thankful the claws weren't out.lol.

Oh my gosh! My cat, a grown male, has always done that! I have often wondered what it means to him. He and I will lay down to take a nap, and he curls up beside me...and reaches out and puts that little paw on my nose. We fall asleep that way! When I come home from work, I pick him up to give him some love and he reaches out and touches my nose with his paw! I have always just assumed it was his way of 'hugging' me. (at least that is what I would love to think that it is!)

I have one cat that does that, she has always been like that. A real touchy feely cat. She is so gentle and would never hurt us. I think its adorable.

Cats of all ages do this as a sign of affection. A cat mysteriuosly is in tune with humans, therefore they know that the lips on humans are very sensitive. But be careful, not only will they do it to show love but they will also bring the claws out if they are annoyed or want to get away!!!

Yeah my 2 cats do it too and I have NO clue why. I have owned many cats in my life time so far and these are the only 2 that have done it.

I don't know what it means, but I've had cats that did that. I always took it as a little sign of affection because it was such a soft touch. I had a cat once who would slap anyone she was not happy with. He was jealous of my daughter who didn't live with me but came on weekends. He hopped up on the opposite end of the couch from her, walked along the back toward her. We thought he was approaching to get rubbed. But he walked right up to her and slapped her hard in the face! Then he jumped down and walked away. It was truly funny. We were so surprised that we just sat and looked at each other for a bit then burst out laughing.
