This happened to me - only, in my case, it was due to a computer crash. I had been writing my first novel and was plugging right along during a particularly long work day. I had added 50 pages, making it 240 pages long and did a considerable amount of editing, rewriting and organizing. I never backed the material up on disk and - poof - it zapped away when my computer kicked the bucket. Needless to say, that novel remains unfinished. That happened in 1998 and I haven't been able to revisit the material since experiencing that trauma!! (duh) I haven't made the mistake since.

That's the worst thing ever, you had so much accomplished! You have my sympathy! Computers and their poof and zap methods, wow Hemingway would've shot it! Thanks for sharing your story!

Oh, yes, I have been there, done that. It's happened to me more than a few times on Helium, usually when I used the spell check feature, so I stopped with that. I've also had it happen to me many times on Associated Content. You would think that I would learn to write on Word or Wordpad, but I like writing into the program better. So, I suffer. I have been where you are! Totally.

wow. A whole article? That sucks!
I've lost 3 or 4 paragraph discussion posts and been pretty frustrated. I imagine I'd be extremely frustrated if I lost an entire article.
Just from what's happened to me with discussions, I can sympathize.
Sometimes I pour my heart into these discussion (sort of) and if I lose it, it's like all the passion has already flowed out of me and it's lost forever. I can't bring myself to attempt to retype it.
When that happens, I just try to tell myself that it wasn't meant to be. I tell myself that it was a "sign" that it wasn't something that I needed to post.
Hey...it works for me! lol
From now on...save after each paragraph?
Of course, I'm great at giving advice sometimes, but I don't always follow my own advice.
Take care.
Good luck with your future articles.

Right?lol, I say to myself, well it wasnt necessary or can be done better!! I have learned to save after every paragraph and even if I'm paranoid that day, every line!Thank you!:)
