I've been depressed for all my life, and I've been reading up on neurofeedback and neurotherapy, and based on what I've read about it, it helps cure depression. Neurofeedback is a therapy where they hook up your head to a computer, and you consciously retrain your brainwaves. It has proved helpful for people with autism, learning disabilities, chronic fatigue, ADHD, and depression. I'm talking to my therapist about it because I do not want to rely on my medication. You can look it up at http://www.eegbiofeedback.com for more information. God bless you!

I think it depends on the individual and what resources they have and what their support system is like....I suffered from severe depression for many yrs but finally got on meds about 2 yrs ago which is a good thing BUT thats not to say being medicated doesnt have its downside too....I think that some ppl can very successfully get their depression under control with the right shrink, support system and determination...however some ppl arent able to do it that way..I also think that how long one has been depressed is a huge factor too really...

Yes I do, in fact pills don't cure depression, they only mask it.

Yes, and No. It depends on the type of depression. The Severity of it, the cause. For some it is situational improving a situation makes it go away. For others it is negative thought patterns, retraining themselves to think different does it. For other it is treating another health problem, like learning they have diebetis and getting this under control, or any other types of illneses getting proper treatments of it makes the depression go away. Others certain foods, or just a small change in stress management helps. Others exercising more and sleeping better helps. And there there are many others who needs meds, and there is no other treatment or cure to depression, and there is nothing wrong with that, as depression is like any other disease that includes meds, and being on meds is nothing to fear if it makes you better, and eases depression, it is worth having that improvement in the quality of life. For me proper sunlight, and being able to express myself is the best for my own type of depression. - DNatureofDTrain
