Getting over a pet's death

My kitty has passed away a couple weeks ago. I miss her terribly. She was 18 years old. I got her when I was 6 years old. So it's been very difficult adjusting to life without her. Does anyone have any advice on coping with the loss of a pet?

I feel badly for you and your cat. It's never easy to cope with a pet's passing, especially a pet who has been with you all of those years. I can relate, though. My Tabitha, who was 14 years old, passed away last October. I still miss her, but know that she is in a better place. There is not much you can do in the way of coping with your pet's loss, other than remembering the good times that you spent with her all of those years. But know that she's on the Other Side and is happy and very much alive!

I lots a 10 years old cat with cancer 3 months ago. I know how you feel. Your kitty was at a good age, she must had have a nice life along with you. It's really hard... do you have other pets? I have 3 other cats and I'm living for them. Unfortunately our oldest cat grew up with the late one, she is the one who's most suffering.

Well my daughters pup passed away this month and I cried and she cried and it eased the pain some but he will be remembered always. So have yourself a good cry and then think about all the good things your sweet kitty did. I think about our pup but the tears are less and I can smile as I remember how silly he used to act when we were playing keep away with him. God Bless

I've lost a pet cat before too and I also felt just awful, but that doesn't last too long --time heals. Just remember the good things you did for your pet that made it's life better because of your care and remember the ways that your cat showed you affection. I know that each cat has it's own personality and cannot be replaced, but if you are at a point in your life where you can or want to get another pet, go ahead and get a kitten. It IS another 18 year commitment though, so think it thru first.
