Is it better to be a stay at home parent?

For the parents out there, is it better to be a stay at home parent or go back to work to help with the income in the home?

Really, if you are financially able, and have the patience for it, staying home is better for the children I believe. But, some of us just cannot do it. I for one, cannot afford to stay home. I am a single mother, and just moving back out on my own with my two year old daughter, I HAVE to work. But, for those who can afford it, I would recommend staying home until your children are going to school.

i think it all depends on your situation. if you are financially able, then i think it would be ok to be a stay-at-home parent.
personally, i would love to be a stay-at-home mom. but our financial status wouldn't allow it. so now, both my husband and i are working and contributing to the family's financial welfare.
