As some of you might know, I am expecting my second child and am due in October.
Yesterday, I went to the department store and saw all the baby things and almost went crazy.. lol! I was so excited I didn't know where to start. My mom told me that it was still too early.. and I agreed.
When I was expecting my first child, I left all the shopping when I was 8months along. But then again, when I had my first baby, we had financial "limitations".. So, i didn't go all out. However, things are looking pretty good this time..
What should I start with? Should I go with colors? I still don't know whether it'll be a boy/girl. So, I think I'll stick with white/yellow.:P Any tips?? Does your partner get involved with all the preparations? How about your mother/in-laws? Are they involved too?
I think I'm just so excited I can't really think straight.. So please share your experiences and don't hesitate to share any advices or tips.. Thanks alot. I really appreciate it.

Personally, I think it's never too early to shop for babies. I started buying clothes almost three years before I got pregnant! LOL! Needless to say my husband was kind of shocked. He could see how baby crazy I was. At some point I had a small trunk filled to the brim with baby clothes, crocheted booties, baby caps and socks and all kinds of baby stuff. He asked me to wait until we were sure that I was going to have a baby, so I did. I wish I hadn't because I couldn't afford to buy too much more once I was pregnant. We were on more of a limited budget.
As far as what you should buy, that probably depends on what you already have.
I found that I got the most use out of simple things like baby t-shirts and onesies and baby socks. If your home is comfortably warm then your little one might not need heavy clothing at all.
But, certainly go ahead and buy a very warm jacket or sweater, if weather gets cold there.
If you can afford to do so now, buy for up to a year or more.
I did that too, and had clothes for my daughter all the way up to her second birthday already purchased even before she was born.
I shopped at clearance sales and second hand shops to keep the costs low. So, it didn't cost that much money. You could find some really good deals on baby clothes on Ebay. I saw a huge box of baby clothes for less than $25 the other day on Ebay.
I'm sure you will know what is best for your baby, so just have fun shopping! Shopping is one of the best parts of becoming a new mommy. Well, that and holding the new baby.
Be well, my friend and blessings upon you and your baby-to-be!

Haha! I can't believe it! you really shopped for baby clothes before you got pregnant?? my husband would have flipped.. even if i went shopping now he would flip..
The only thing that drives me nuts when i think of shopping early is the fact that i'll be spending my time folding and refolding and looking through all the things i bought.. i really can't help it!! lol..
But the most important item that i have kept with me, are the blankets that my grandma crocheted and knitted for me when i was a baby.. my son used them and now my next child should use them too..
Onesies are the best too, in my opinion.. and they look so adorable on babies compared to the two-piece outfits.. Anyways, thanks for telling me about ebay! I didn't think to check on it at all! I can't wait to shop!
Thanks alot for sharing your experiences and advice.. i really appreciate it! Take care and be well!

I am glad that your second baby will be born in October. Since you will have your second baby, you don't have to buy lots of new things. Why not just use your first child's things? Such as the clothes. Baby always grows fast, so it is not necessary to buy lots of new cloths for he/she. If you want to buy, then please try to buy less and you can use this money for other better usage.
I think you need to buy the diapers, baby shampoo and so on. I hope you will have a cute and healthy baby.

I can't really use my son's old things because when my nephew was born a year ago, my sister-in-law borrowed alot of my son's old things and never gave it back. And it wouldn't seem nice to ask for it back, anyway..
So, i guess i have to start anew.. When my first baby was born.. i only got him i think not more than 6 outfits.. he grew out of them like nobody's business. :) Anyways, thanks alot for your well wishes.. i hope i get a cute and healthy baby too.. :) Thanks alot..

thanks kris!!
I'm trying to refrain from shopping too early.. because even when i was pregnant the first time, and only started shopping when i was 8 months pregnant, the remaining month was spent folding and refolding all the baby clothes that i bought.. LOL!
Anyways, thanks for your advice.. i'll try to keep it to only the necessary items. :) Sorry for the late reply..

thanks for the wish rapolu!
I think the shopping isn't as risky as the housework.. i was cleaning my kitchen the other day and almost slipped and i had a really long lecture from my hubby.. and so now, he does most of the housework even if he's tired from work.. Anyways, thanks for taking the time to respond.. and sorry for the late reply!

Some say it's the hardest part "being the father". watching your wife take in and not being able to do much, I just kept my calm and collected. (I packed everything, made sure things was sorted etc)
That's the only thing I could really do.
My mum was right behind us even more so than anyone else I know. A great source of looking ahead and keeping clear :)

hey Joey~!
Wow.. an organized husband and father.. how nice! The first time around, my husband was such a mess, he kept forgetting SOMETHING.. he forgot my socks, and when he went home and came back to the hospital, he came back with a jacket! :) I think he was overwhelmed with everything!
My mom is really great too.. she was there all the time.. taking care of me.. gathering her friends around to visit her first grandchild.. and i bet this time around.. she'll do exactly the same thing too!
Sorry for the late reply.. and thanks for responding!
