The most common reason for depression is chemical imbalance in the brain. You have therefore no reason to blame yourself for depression. Depression is often familial and there is some evidence that there may be genetic factors at play. So just blame your genes! Immediate triggers for depression may be financial, relationships, stresses of life including studies and expectations your own and of others. But there are things you can do to prevent depression from running your life and ruining your relationships. 1. Exercise - increases serotonin levels in the brain. May be one of the major reasons for increasing incidence of depression in modern times as lifestyles become more and more sedentary. Get at least 20 minutes of vigorous exercise or at least 60 minutes of mild exercise eg. walking if health problems preclude getting vigorous exercise. 2. Diet - some foods boost serotonin levels eg milk, bananas etc. You will need to research this topic. 3. Recognise depression for what it is - and how it is affecting your life. This is the first step in overcoming it. Psychiatrists may help here. 4. Medicines help about tow-thirds of patients of depression. Hope this helps.

God made us human's and I guess it is just a trait we have.Even if you are a christian, believe that christ is our savior. And if you try to follow God's path you don't get as depressed as much, but we all still have our moment's.

Depression can be caused by a chemical imbalance in the brain, emotional problems or a specific tramatic instance in your life such as the loss of a loved one. But I think most commonly is from medication. Some medication have the ability to cause depression type symptoms. If you are taking any medications then you should be evaluated to see if the medication is whats causing it:) Good Luck

I think it is an inner feeling which can be for many reasons, failure in something, feeling unloved, financial problems, frustration because ones life is not going the way one feels it should, I think everyone goes through it, it is a part of life it is just a case if you can pull yourself out of it and not let it beat you.

There are a million different things that people become depressed about. The chemical seritonin is released in the brain. This chemical gives a person a sense of well being, and helps to work through stressful times. If the brain does not release enough of this chemical they can become depressed. Some people are able to work things out by doing certain activities such as exercise which gives a boost to the natural release of seritonin. Others such as myself need to take medication which enhances the release in the brain.
