i think the number next to your name only counts how many times you responded to a discussion but it doesn't count if you posted something

That number represents the number of times you have responded to or posted a discussion. You will notice that it will increase as you go on responding to various topics here. When you reach 100, a star will appear above your name. Good luck!!
