Do you own a dog who came out of near handicap or near death experience? We picked up our 4 year old pomeranian/peckinese from a pound. A few months later one evening with a completely dark bedroom she tried jumped off my bed and when I heard a thump, I jumped up and turned on the light. She was lying on her side and couldn't move. The next morning she was unable to move. We took her to our vet and he could only tell us that maybe she might come out of it. He gave us some steriods and anti inflammatory and told us about a animal hospital we could take her. We took her to the animal hospital but it would cost us anywhere from $1,500.00 to $5,000.00 to treat her depending on her current condition. We didn't have that kind of money so we took her home, gave the pills as our vet told us, and waited. I prepared by putting together items a handicap dog would need thinking she was going to be handicap. Well, it turns out I never needed those items. She returned to her normal loving self. She was one determined animal to not be handicap and have to be carried around and be dependent on us. Of course, I give credit to her age, the medicine, but most of all to her determination to not remain handicap. She sure has been a motivator for my partially disabled husband and myself. If our little dog could have that much self-determination, then so could we.
