She was holding him (he's 3) and walking across the street, she tripped and fell and landed on him and he banged his head on the street, and started screaming! She is a little thing, so she doesnt weigh that much...I ran and took him inside making sure he was ok and all. She was so upset and crying for like an hour, after I made sure he was ok, a little bump, no blood or anything, we went out to assure her it was alright, I know it was an accident, and it wasnt intentional. HAs this ever happened? How did you handle it?

I agree as a parent I think we have all done this. I know I fell with my daughter down steps luckily she was in her carseat and it landed in the snow right side up. My sister fell with her grandson and she freaked out. She cried for hours and there was really no way for us to calm her down. She was so upset and he was fine. I am sure it is the thought they may have hurt a child that causes them to get so upset. I would say just let her hold him for a while so she knows he is ok. It may just take time for her to get over this and there is nothing you can do about that. Just reassure her all you can and wait.

yes that is what I have done, she was holding him again towards the end of the night and laughing and playing with him, so I am sure she is ok now. =)

I dropped my nice in her bouncer chair when she was only a couple of months old. I picked it up by the toy-bar thing which came off when I lifted her. I felt terrible, but she didn't come to any harm. My daughter is standing up and learning to walk just now. She has a little bump on the head most days and she doesn't even cry most of the time. If it's a harder one, I keep a close eye on her incase she gets sleepy or anything but i suppose things like this happen to all kids. if they didn't fall and hurt themselves a few times, they wouldn't learn not to fall! As long as you stop them coming to any serious harm, I think you just have to let accidents happen.

yes, I was freaked because he said he was sleepy, so I made sure he stayed awake, playing with him and such, he was fine, my guy said sometimes bumping your head can make you sleepy, so I just kept a good eye on him, he was good. And I know how bad the girl felt! She was in tears! I felt really bad for her, so I tried to reassure her he was fine, and no one was mad at her =)

I'm glad he's okay and of course she feels bad! He probably screamed more out of fear and surprise than actual pain.

oh gosh, i'm sure she just felt so guilty, when i was 8 the quake of '89 in the bay shook everywhere in the area, i lived in san jose, so i got it real bad, well i was walking 2 houses away from mine to get my older sis to tell her to come eat lunch and i was carrying my 2 yr old sis. well it started shaking and i dropped her right on the curb, she started crying and i picked her up and ran inside the house, but i was so scared of the quake i didn't even make sure she was okay, but i took her to my dad and i'm sure he made sure she was okay. so i know how bad it is that's the main thing i remember about that earthquake. i hope ur son and ur friend r okay!

Sh*t happens! We all feel bad when it does but that is life. I'm glad the wee boy is ok though. Slightly off topic but I had a trick for taking the child's mind off a scuffed knee or a bumped head. I would pick the child up for a cuddle and the rub of the affected area and then rub the table or the concrete path and say 'poor path! Look how you bashing into it has hurt it! Look, there is a big chip out of it!' The child would be so surprised at this approach they would stop crying and you could see their little brains working overtime. 'What is this man saying? How can I possibly hurt a path?' And then their sense of the ridiculous would come to the top and tears would be mixed with laughter - the best cure of all.

Accidents happen, luckily it has not happened to me. But I think your friend just needs to know that you accept it as an accident. Just glad that your son is ok.

I swear blind the title was "My friend fell out with my son" Too tired lol.. Nope not that. My brother/wife was looking after my son when we went on holiday last year and my son fell off the bed. (they wasn't paying attention) I didn't handle it very well. I got mad, shouted at them and I picked my son up and took him to my mother so we calm him down. (My brother and I did have words) mainly him saying sorry and me being a jerk :) But I can admit that. I was scared though truth be told :P ~joey

IT HAPPENED TO ME BEFORE!! Well in my situation, i dropped my cousin, when she was about 1 year old i guess... she was half walking and i was supposed to be holding her hands, then i forgot to hold her hands all of a sudden and she went out of balance and hit her head on the edge of a staircase, luckily she didnt have any serious injuries. i felt so bad afterwards but my uncle and aunt said she is ok and told me not to worry, but i still felt very depressed. She cried for abit but then later on was playing as if nothing had happened =D and now she is so cute!! she is 3 years old right now

Like you did too. I think you're right because you first think your son if he is ok than your friend.
