Do you pass judgement on people who file? I think of it in the same way I think of public assistance. There are people who abuse it and people who have a valid need for some releif. I've heard some remarks about it here and there... What do you think?

Well from my understanding the only way you can file it now is where you arrange payments over time and pay everything back without fear of lossing your property. I see nothing wrong with that, it only hurts that filer's credit. Now the one that is harder to get these days, where they wipe it all out, I think that is not fair at all. That is like legal thift with the same results, higher prices for the rest of us.

Look at this scenario.
You have worked all your life and have acquired 25 years senority at the place where you work. The company you work for closes its doors and the minimum wage jobs available will not come close to covering the bills you have.
Is it then theft?

If you don't pay your bills but have the written off, yes. Sorry but that happened to my mother in law... she got a new job. She also didn't live outside her means.

There is no reason to think badly of these people. Everyone makes mistakes and it's so easy to get in over your head these days. I think that with bankrupcy issues there should be avalible money management classes or something. I also think that they have a good system set that you can only file what every 7 years. Everyone needs a get out of jail free card sometimes. In the same aspect no on should be able to abuse the system either using every couple years to get out of debt.
