Rumor has it the Lakers are going to make a three or four team trade in which they give up Andrew Bynum and Lamar Odom and get Kevid Garnett. Are the Lakers a contender with Kobe and KG?

I'm a celtic fan...if they're involved in the 3 team swap ...they will screw themselves deeply. I hop KOBE goes and the lakers rot!

The C's are one of the teams mentioned in the trade. Last I heard, it would go like this: KG to the Lakers, Andrew Bynum and Lamar Odom to the Pacers, Jermaine O'Neal to the Celtics, and Jefferson, Wally and maybe a pick to the T'Wolves. Gotta love giving up Jefferson for a malcontent like O'Neal.

Well. the CELTICS did worse! An aging no-defense 2-ankle shot 32-yr old for a lot of talent (Jeff Green was a stud). We need RED AUERBACH to retrun from the grrave!

I hear that the KG deal is a NO GO. The Lakers could end up with Jermaine Oneal. That would not be so bad, but still not enought to roll in the west. Plus they would be giving up there 3 & 4 guys. Need more than 2 people to play on a team. Now days you need 8 good people like the Spurs.

Is it just me or is Jermaine O'Neal incredibly overrated? The guy hasn't won anything and the only thing thats franchise about him is his contract. He's hurt all the time and complains when he is healthy. I think trading Odom and Bynum for O'Neal would be a downgrade for the Lakers. No way I would do that deal.

I have to agree 100% that O'Neal is overrated and i would never trade Odom and Bynum for O'Neal. I think that Odom is better than O'Neal (he averages the same amount of rebounds, 4 less points but 3 more assists and is more versatile) and Bynum has a chance to be one of the best centers in the next decade. Doing this trade, just to do a trade would be dumb. I wouldn't be hesitant to trade them for KG though.

There has been a lot of talk about Jermaine O' Neal going to the Lakers so that Garnett deal just won't happen.

That's good news for the city of Minnesota if Kobe goes there and at the same time bad news for the city of angels, Los Angeles.. The Lakers will loose their superstar while the Wolves will add another superstar to their team. Imagine Kevin Garnett and Kobe Bryant plaing together in the same uniform.. Its like an allstar caliber game if you watch them play together.. Kobe with all his talents of scoring points plus Garnett with all his abilities down in the post and grabbing rebound.. Gosh, if this trade happens the Wolves will have s strong chance of winning a championship..

The Lakers are a definite possibility for Garnett as they have the money to pay him a lot of money. They will have to give up a lot to get him and it will be interesting to see how this all plays out and what teams could be involved. I do not think this will change how Kobe feels about being traded himself as one great player like KG will not automatically make the Lakers a contender.

I don't think this trade will happen- I think it would be a great trade for the Lakers to make- I think they are trying to keep Kobe happy- He wants out- I can't blame him- If they are not going to build a good team around him- he wants to go to a team that can be a contender for the finals! He isn't on one right now- I wish the Lakers would have made that trade- and they also made some pretty crappy draft picks- I can't see the Lakers letting Kobe go!

yes i believe that the lakers will be a contender with garnett on their side. KG brings leadership on the team aside from his double-double production every game and he said that he wants to have a teammate primarily a guard who scores a lot. the good thing about KG is that he doesn't care if he will not be the primary guy on the team hes primary goal is to win not only just win but win a championship and with bryant as hes teammate i think it will not be long to achieve that goal.

I wish brotha, but that is not what is going to happen. Unfortunately, Garnett will probably end up playing with Steve Nash in Phoenix by the end of the summer. The Lakers on the other hand have already had an offer from the Pacers, Jermaine O'Neal for Lamar Odom and Andrew Bynum.

The Lakers will definitely become a contender once they have KG in their roster. They should also consider having a point guard that can back up Smush Parker and Lamar Odom's loss. Just a thought.
