I am interested in starting my own auction site. I have noticed a trend toward unique bid auctions. One example of this type of site is www.jaxbid.org. Is this a popular idea because I am interested in starting this type of auction. It seems to be legitimate. Thanks

I was a powerseller on ebay last year so I'll give it to you from a seller's perspective.
I listed on other auction sites. They didn't have any traffic so my auctions didn't sell. When I look at an auction site and I have more products than the whole website has up for auction... it is a bad sign.
I tried selling on AuctionWarehouse and sold one item. It wasn't worth my time to check it to see if I had any sales.
It also takes a long time to convert my auctions to a new websites format which isn't worth my time because there will be little if any sales.
Any site other than ebay would have to pay me to sell on it. As I said it isn't worth my time to convert the auctions to a new format if the site doesn't have the traffic.
So to sum it all up, no it isn't a good idea to start an auction website, UNLESS you have a lot of money to draw people to your site. Otherwise sellers would get frustrated because it is a waste of their time checking to see if they have sales.

A perfect example is the jaxbid. There are 6 items. If I were to list on it I would basically own it. It would be a flower/seed website because I have over 2,000 items.
I forgot to mention, if you are making the website for your own items and not letting others sell on it, then it might work. However you will need some traffic. After you get the traffic then you will need some bidders which is harder than getting traffic.
