pop, punk, whatever...i will always love Good Charlotte...their music is amazing on so many levels...and it transcends labels....i can relate to every one of their songs. the lyrics have meaning and purpose. i mean, in a world where we have songs about "lipgloss" and "grillz"...it's refreshing to have songs that, while being catchy and upbeat and popular, have meaning behind them that we can relate to. example...their newest hit, Dance Floor Anthem....sounds like a poppy dance tune at first, but it speaks volumes about breaking up and moving on...when it came out i had just endured a rough break up. that song said just what i was feeling...and it helped me move forward. so, call them pop, call them punk, call them posers....whatever. i don't care for labels. i care about music. and the bottom line is they make great music. REAL music. about real life, and not just catchy mainstream ideas. so, Good Charlotte will always be my favorite band. i welcome your responses....

It might be hard for me to respond to this, just because I couldn't say much more than you did. Good Charlotte has been my favorite band ever since I heard the first guitar note of Little Things on the radio on the way to a music festival in 2000! Back before their first album was even released I knew they would forever be my favorite band. I have just always been so drawn to their music. And when I met them the times I have, I felt like I've known them forever, even the first time I met them, I felt an amazing connection, and for me, that is a big deal, because I have trouble connecting with people, especially guys, so the fact that their music affected me the way it did was amazing. It's like I was meant to hear them that day!
I remember going to a concert in Baltimore and some guy was like "they won't last a year.." and I was like "well, I don't agree with that, but even if they don't, I will always like them!" Here it is, 7 years later, and they have come such a long way, and I still love them more than words can describe. I had juts turn 17 when I first heard them, I am now 24, and I can't imagine how the last 7 years would have been without Good Charlotte.
When their latest album came out it definitely reminded me of who I am, and what I feel, before that I was kinda walking around in a fog for a while, trying not to feel anything too deep, but listen to the album for the first time definitely woke me up. Sure, bad feelings and stuff may not be the most fun, but their music is definitely therapeutic. The song "Misery", gave me a different perspective on the depression I've had for as long as I can remember. I mean, I don't "enjoy" being depressed, but in a way, I really think that it is what makes me who I am, it makes me real. I listen to different music, including Hilary Duff, and for a while before the album came out I found myself listening to mostly "care-free" pop, to escape from my reality.. I think that's why this album knocked me to the ground (so to speak). Music is a very personal thing to me, and influential. I will walk around my college campus, and when I have my ipod on it's like I'm in a whole nother world.. so when I listen to "upbeat" stuff I kinda forget the realities, almost like my personality changes, I feel so fake when I look back on it.. then I listen to something I can really relate to, like Good Charlotte, and and like, wow.. I really have been walking around in a cloud. It actually levels me somewhat.. I go from somewhat hyperactive, to a place where I feel like I am truly myself and understood.
Right now I'd have to say my favorite song from the album is "Misery", just because it's an eye-opener, it's so true, and I feel I can really relate to it.
I am so glad to find someone else who doesn't care what they are "labeled".. I hate labels.. they just get in the way. Time and time again they have never failed to make great music.. I always think "could this album possibly be any better?" and with each album they just get better. And that's the way it should be, I know I'm a singer, and I certainly hope my next album is better than the one I recorded last summer. It's a natural progression. With experience it can only get better.
