How young is too young for Myspace?

My nephew want's to have a myspace account because all his friends have them, His mother won't allow him to because he is only 12. What are your thoughts on this, how old do you think kids should be before using myspace?

I made my myspace when I was under the preferred age. But I was 15 so it was pretty close

Did anything bad ever happen to you , I mean obviously nothing too serious cause your alive but did older guys try to hook up with you or anything like that. I have heard there are alot of adult men using myspace who lie about their age.

It does depend on the parents but I would say at least 13 years old could work out but only should add there friends from school.
I can see why because it could be too young. I think waiting till 13 would work out just fine. I think it just depends on the parents and situation.

I can see your point here, I believe that is about right aswell, at 13 you usually have grasped good morals & know the difference between right & wrong. However we all make mistakes & I know I made alot of them at that age.

I think 12 is right on the edge of an appropriate age. It would depend on the child, and how trustworthy he is. Also, how well his parents have expained the dangers of the internet to him and how closely they monitor his computer useage. I don't know if MySpace has any parental control settings, but that is something I would look in to.

Yeah it does have limited parental controls, I don't think they have too many options however. Good advice.

Well all my nephews have one and the youngest is 10, I personally don't think it's right for kids so young to have a myspace, I say they should be at least 16 or older to have one. That's how I see it. It's to dangerous for kids who are young.

Yeah I suppose you are right, you never can be certain of the things that can be found intentionally or accidentally on the internet.
