That is what I thought I only knew what the TV said. I had never met a Muslim in my life. I was so scared of them. Not long ago I met some Muslim women on line. After a rocky start we did end up being friends. They are so kind and they beleave in peace. They let this Christian ask many questions. They liked it that I asked questions bc then I could know their heart and mind. And I in turn shared with them. If you do not know a Muslim I would say you should seek them out here on mylot and just talk to them. You will find they have the same cares and worries that we do. The things that give us joy also gives them joy.

i really shocked to know your expression about muslim. those who attached in 9-11 are deviated from muslim rules. they are not eligible to vow them as muslim. because our prophet has said to not harm people to spread religion. he also said that not to pressuize people to convert their religion.
but the attacker violate the prophet's sentence.
they are not in right track.
muslim who are in right way.. i am sure we will fascinated to get touch their characteristic.

Well, Muhammad's words and actions do give evidence for conversion be coercion, but w/e.
There have always been violent muslims and there are many muslims that commit atrocious acts with the blessing of the Quran, Mullahs, and their local Ummah as well. They claim they do it because of their religion, their god, and their prophet, so who is anyone else to tell them it isn't real? To them, that is what is real and with that many people in line with that ideology, it is awfully unlikely they are all confused individuals.

yes it is tr4ue, we are all people after all. We share the same wants and desires. How can we go to war killing people that are like us? The truth is, we cant. So both sides are given a distorted view of the other through the media. Each side sees the other as slightly lwesser of a human being , indeed children of a lesser god. It is easier to kill if you believe those on the other side are not the same as us.
Open forum on the other hand allows these myths to be dispelled. This is dangerous to those in power, how can the propagate lies if people actually talk to each other? Are we seeing the end of war? maybe we will see Bush and Ben Ladin in a boxing ring instead
blessed be

I'm glad that you were able to meet some nice people and put your fears at ease! I know some very nice Muslim people offline, and so when the sentiment starting swinging so far against them because of the actions of a few extremists, I found myself being very worried for their health and safety here in the United States. One of my Muslim friends came into the place where I worked one day saying that some people at the university where he worked had been cruel to him over his religious beliefs, but once he actually sat down and talked to people in charge over the issue it was resolved.
I have met some people who are Muslim that I don't like, just as I've met people of every religion that I don't like. But thanks to an early experience with a Muslim friend, and the ones I've met since then, I never had to worry about feeling they were all people to fear.

your sentence is pragmatic. each community is combined with good and bad people. but i know muslim is subject of much talked about because of some extremist. in my country bangladesh six top extremist leaders were hanged few days ago.
actually extremist are worsening the muslim then other religion. they really met muslime as devastating to other religious people. but extremist are not real muslim. they are in wrong way.
i am a muslim. i hate extremist and theit activities.

Well, we must always realized that branding a group of people into a certain category is not that good. We don't have to based our conclusions on the acts of a very minority. Not all Muslims are radicals. Just like Christians, they also have some radical members of the faith who are making this nasty acts of terrorism, tarnishing the image of Muslim as being a relegion of peace.

I must congratulate you IL2Knit for speaking the truth at a time when bashing and critisizing Islam and Muslims has become a trend. I have often asked non-Muslims here at MyLot who have negative ideas of my religion if they have actually met and dealt with some Muslims or their ideas are based on rumors and disinformation spread mainly by the western media. Interacting with any community is the best way to understand them.
Thankyou for making this thread.

Fortunately, I had already had some Muslim friends and have studied a little bit about the religion before 9-11, so I knew that the people who had done that with the planes don't represent the entire religion. I was lucky to have grown up with a lot of diversity around me and it has helped me. I understand that a lot of people here haven't had that experience and can feel differently. But, that's what makes places like Mylot so great, we can get to know people from all over the world and see their point of view.

You were very blessed to grow up in a place like that. The places I grew up in were pretty small. We didn't meet a lot of different people. I love places like this bc I can learn so much. I'm doing this post and others bc I know there are many other people out there who only know the lies the TV feeds us.

Respected Lady, you dad a completely wrong perception ; it is good that you changed your perception and have Muslim friends. I am Indian, a Hindu to be more precise and as you might know, Muslims form a large part of our population, infact most of my friends are muslims. I feel that the media is to be blamed for the "anti-muslim" sentiments. For example- If a non-muslim person blows up a building the headlines will come as --"Terrorists blow up a building", and if a muslim person blows up a building the same headlines will appear as -- "A Muslim blew up a building".............. now tell me what was the need to project that person's religion.
Bad people, radicle people will be found in all religions(Hinduism, Christianity, Islam, Sikh, Jew ect..), infact the character of va person is not dependent upon his/her religion.
It has been my observation that in general muslims are good people , they are discipline and have a strong moral code of conduct. Some people who live in "so called" advanced places scoff at Indians(especially Muslims) for being so conservative, which find very un-ethical.
Basically every religion has to be respected, and deeds of a person should be measured in terms of his/her religion.

I'm glad I changed too. It seems as if all over the world that thoes of us who are conservative are beibg treated as if we are bad. People hate us bc we don't do the nasty things they do. But that is ok. God is our judge not them. We must just please God.

Yes, you are right. Trust me, there are different people in this world. You will find mean people, nice people, all types of people. So we shouldn't make generalizations about one group or another because you find that there are people that don't fit into that definition.

You Said
" That is what I thought I only knew what the TV said "
" I was so scared of them "
" They are so kind and they beleave in peace "
I think this proves that we are not told the Truth By Media .
9 - 11 still a mystery , and there is some Questions Needs answers Before accusing Muslims ,

Yes, I have worked with the muslims men and some women for many years. The men would work a lot of overtime as they had big families to support but they had family they supported like parents and other members of their family.
The muslims tend to marry their own and that seems like a good thing but my we have shared meals togehter and I have gotten and given food to them..
Dearborn, Michigan has about a half million muslims and i have not been afraid to walk down these "moslims" neighborhoods..The muslims know how to raise their chldren..How many of these youong men and women are getting nto troulbe?
Maybe we could learn from this muslim experience.

Muslim's are human just as christian's are. There are scary christian's,muslims and other people as well.In general most Muslim's want peace, but they do not believe in Jesus Christ as our Savior. And they should...... John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, Iam the way,the truth and the life:no man cometh unto the father, but by me.....
Christians should feel free to be friends with muslim's and anyone else and spread the word as God want's us to.I just recently was renting from some muslims and the man and children were peaceful people and took their religious believes to heart, like non-smoking,etc. But,the woman was only nice when her husband was out of town, then she would be very unpeaceful and made life very difficult for me.She forced me to move out and it now taking me to court.Like I said there are unpeaceful people everywhere.
