Hi :)
I'm a local from Tasmania, and I'm interested in knowing if there are any other Tasmanians out there?
Have any of you ever visited Tasmania? What places did you visit, what was the best of Tassie, in your opinion?
My favourite place here is Cradle Mountain. I've stayed there a few times now (Cradle Mountain lodge), and it's just amazing. It's so peaceful, and so beautiful. There is nothing like being so close to nature, my kids really loved getting so close to the wildlife! The brushtail possums are so tame, they come right up to you, as do the currawongs. It's a magical place :)

I have been to Australia many times, and one of my visits (in 2001) was to Tasmania. I spent 13 glorious days there hiring a car and travelling around the whole island. Tasmania is quieter than many Australian destinations I've been, but nevertheless it is a beautiful place to visit.
The most memorable places I've been to are Mount Wellington, Tasman Peninsula, Freycinet National Park with the picturesque Wineglass Bay, the Cataract Gorge in Launceston, Cradle Mountain and the Nut at Stanley.
At Cradle Mountain, I stayed 2 nights at the Cradle Mountain Lodge. It's really beautiful there and I remember there were 2 possums that came to our front door around midnight and we were so scared to let them in. We were warned not to let them into our lodge unit otherwise they may not leave. I took a beautiful picture of them but unfortunately I am unable to attach it here with this post. I also enjoyed Salamanca Market, Russell Falls at Mount Field NP, the Marakoopa Cave and the Emu Valley Rhododendron Garden.
There are just too many nice memories to name, and one has to make a trip there to enjoy this great big country. Soon I will be planning another trip to Australia, possibly Melbourne.

Thankyou so much for your response! I'm glad you liked Tassie! Yes, the possums are funny critters, but they are good fun, my kids love them! lol We actually have a big old brushtail who comes into our garage at night, he likes to eat the guinea pig food lol
It sounds like you really did have a wonderful time when you visited here. I love the Salamanca Markets, and go there when ever we are in Hobart, it's a fantastic market, and that area of the city is just so beautiful, so rich in history!
may I ask where you are from?

I am from Singapore. You know what? Australia is my favourite holiday destination in this part of the world. I've been there nine times already.
ps. I will post the photo of the 2 possums I took in my profile, so you can see it. Very nice creatures they are.

Fantastic! I will post my Cradle Mountain pics tomorrow - they are on my other computer!
I have never been to Singapore, but we are planning an extended vacation to Greece with our little family, in 2010 9to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary), and we have plans to visit Singapore on our way :)
