When I was a student, I never chew bubble gum during class hours because for me its not proper for a student to do so. I respected my teachers a lot. I find it very irritating or annoying when I see students chewing gums like goats in front of me. If you were the teacher, would you allow your students to chew bubble gum during your lecture or class?

I could allow that. I have never actually noticed such things since I also didn't get to chew bubble gum during school hours. What matters for me is that they get to learn what is being taught and that they do their homeworks.

That's the problem. The students who usually chew bubblegum are those who are not attentive and dont seem to care about their studies.

I used to teach in college part-time. Staying infront of the class makes you see the different actions and reactions of students. And you can't miss anyone chewing gum. Whenever I see one, I stop my lecture or whatever it is I'm doing and instead ask that particular student to stop chewing gum either by swallowing it or throwing it out. I proceed with what I was doing only after it's done.
