Hello, polachicago!:-) My mother used to spend a lot of time with us and she still does. She gave us lessons on morality, ethics, good conduct, honor, manners etc; so there are a lot of things she repeatedly said to us. I'll share some here:-) There is no better spending than a selfless charity. A penny spent without expectation of reward is better than a million spent for worldly gains. A person's worth is not his/her face, wealth or appearance but what is there in his/her heart and inner self. Every person is beautiful, it's upon us to find that beauty. Pure love is when we do it without being loved in return. Make friends for what they are and not for what they look. There are actually many of her sayings that keep resonating in my mind but the list will get too long, so I am stopping here:-)

Hello polachicago, I love your new avatar. Is it you? Both my parents used to say such a lot of things. One of my dads favourites was - do you think money grows on trees. lol My mum would say, 'beauty is but skin deep' The ones I use most on my children are - Dont put off till tomorrow what you can do today. and If you havent got anything nice to say about someone then don't say it.and Do unto others as you would have them do to you! I think the last one is my favourite. Keep well.

I was just wondering how long ago did you change your avatar. You are very beautiful young lady, and could this have led to some of the calls you got a while back. I am judging you, just asking you. Sometimes we cant be too careful. Take care. luv me

My mother always told me to never pass up a freebie. My grandmother always told me to take care of my pennies and the dollars will take care of themselfs. My grandfather told me that it is just as easy to keep the top half of a gas take full as it is the bottom half.

I have done that before with PayPal. I am signed up for the 1% cash back and I always forget about it. When I goto my PayPal account I find more month then I thought. My grandmother is right about her saying.

My mother used to say..." Children please finish your school. Give importance to your education to have a good job and great future". My parents worked hard to ensure our financial stability and enroll us in a private and good school.

my mother say a lot, when i sit in frond of mirror she used to say"if a girl love beautiful, she will have no good future" I don't agree with that all the time. The most senten she used to say to me is "work hard, study hard...."i feel big press from that.so i don't like the senten.

Just the basics that every mother says "Eat your carrots, their good for your eyes." "Drink your milk..it'll make you stronger." "Clean your ears or potatoes will grow from them." "Go to bed." "Eeeww gross...get that out of your mouth." Things like that.

I saw you open this discussion under *I admire my mother*and I'm very happy for you. I don't admire my mother at all and even if we still speak each other I don't want remember whatever she said .By the way i don't thing she cares ever for any of her children to say something wise.

When something happened that didn't go my way I would always that it wasn't fair. And of course my mother used to always say that life wasn't fair and I should get used to it. It used to drive my crazy, but when my son was growing up I used to say the same thing to him. I guess I am definitely becoming my mother whether I like it or not.

Mt mother would count to three when we misbehaved. When she got to 3, if we were still miss behaving, we got wacked. If we were really being bad, she would say "I've had it ! I'm going to get the wooden spoon!" Also, she says "Oh $h1T" alot. It was one of my first words!

My mother used to say, "I'm so glad that you aren't twins." I chose to take it as a compliment and that she thought I was so awesome that any more awesomeness would completely overwhelm her. . . . She did seem overwhelmed at times...or maybe "exasperated" would be a better word...
