I belong to an Online DVD Organizer (http://www.dvdspot.com) and there are some people who have dvd collections of over 3,000...I'm always amazed by that.
How big is your collection? Has your DVD collection surpassed your VHS collection? Where do you get all of your DVDs from?
I have 352 currently. I belong to two dvd clubs (Columbia House and Disney) and I buy them from places like target and walmart where I can get them pretty cheap.

That's a lot! We own about 145 DVDs and just a few videos. We actually only have a DVD player, but we're keeping the videos for sentimental reasons. We get our DVDs from a variety of places, usually local shops, Virgin, Amazon, Play.com and other places.

If I had more money to spare, I'd have more DVD's. I buy a lot on discounts... movie rental stores will have pre-viewed dvds where it's like "3 for $25" and such. I'm obsessed. I never owned too many VHS...but I am trying to get most of my VHS on DVD.

We've got an account on dvdspot too. Our collection is a little over 1100 now. We've bought from Wal-Mart, deepdiscount.com (very great site, free shipping, and great prices), Columbia House (though not many, they're pricey), and a lot of them we've bought from video stores that sell them used. We've racked up on those and they're guaranteed so we don't have to worry about them being messed up.
We've really surpassed the VHS we use to own. We sold them all a few years ago.
I love having the DVD's over the VHS. We use CD books to put the DVD's in, have them listed on our computer with their own assigned place (for easy access), and put the cases in tubs in our building.
Anyway I really recommend you check out deepdiscount.com in the future. They've also got books, video games, and even posters on their site all with free shipping.

You're right about Columbia House and their sales. That's when we get the really expensive ones we want like Taken. We don't buy much else there though 'cause we're so hooked on deepdiscount. We haven't actually bought many lately because of lack of funds. My hubby usually gets nothing but DVD's though for holidays. Even from me - 'cause that's all he actual wants.

people on DVDspot talk about deepdiscount.com a lot. I've checked it out a few times, very nice.
Columbia house isn't really too pricey if you use the sales and stuff. That's what I do. I end up getting like 10 dvd's for maybe 50 bucks or so, if even. CD books are great storage, I don't do that though, but I am running out of room. That's a might impressive stack, even more than my bro's! But unfortunately a lack of money is a lack of DVD's for me. I have to try real hard not to buy some in any and all stores that sell them :(
I'll check out deep discount and maybe I'll try some out soon! thanks.

I own about 20 DVD's and about 300 VHS tapes. The only reason I have DVD's is because the films i wanted were in a DVd and not VHS when I could finally buy them.

When the DVD recorder with a VHS comes down in price, I may convert a few of my favorite VHS to DvD form. But I am not going to replace all my VHS with DvDs.

How can you not be into DVD's? Actually I make fun of one of my co-workers all the time cause he has like 5. My brother has 650 or so. He's worse than me. Since I belong to Columbia House it's pretty cool because there are always sales that are like "buy one at full price (19.95 or 21.95) and get the rest 60% off" so a lot of old dvd's are like 9.95 anyway... and 60% off makes them really cheap! I love it.

I only have about 20 movies on DVD. My DVD player is on my computer, and my old VCR still works, so I still have my VHS collection. I also have the VCR incase I want to record something off of TV, at some time or another.

i have maybe 40 DVDs mostly cartoons, for my kids. i have a lot of VHS and the eat up mostly of the space on the shelf but i really treasure them because VHS are not easy to be damaged not like dvd its cd is so delicate that i dont trust my kids to handle it by them selves. once it got a scratch we will have a problem watching it. wow 2 dvd clubs, wish there was likethat here.

That is true, kids can hurt DVD's. But then again...your kids could figure out how to tear out the inside tape!
We have a few dvd ordering places... but those two are the only two I belong to. They're really great because they have discounts and sales and stuff that let you get dvds for cheap.
The Disney one would be nice especially to buy for your kids.

I'm not really into movies that much, most of my dvd's are music dvd's and I have about 15 all up. Cd's on the other hand-I have around 500 Cds..and climbing! i can't get enough of them. There's always great new albums coming out and heaps of music from the past that i keep getting into. I just don't see the point in buying dvd's because when I watch a movie, it's very rarely that I will sit down and watch it again so It would be cheaper to just hire the movie out if i wanted to see it again. But that's just me, I think I have ADD when it comes to sittig down for 2 hours to watch a movie!

I have a collection of about 90 dvds. It's not that big, but i try and collect my favourite movies. In mumbai where i stay there's a place called rhythm house and plant-m. I mostly pick up my dvds from there. If at times i am lucky, i might get some discount on the dvds.

250 is a good amount. Walmart is a great place to get them. I think I get more at blockbuster or columbia house though. The disney dvd club is about the only place that doesn't always give out the best deals. but i use it anyway cause i like disney!
