Ok so my husband loves lord of the rings and has commented on wanting the movie "The Hobbit" He remember seeing it as a youngster and wanted a copy of it. So one day I decided to do a search on ebay for the movie and I found one but it was only in vhs form. No biggy we have a player for vhs so I decided to get it for him for a Christmas present. Starting early! Anyway, when it showed up I was somewhat disappointed to see it was the cartoon version. My fault I didn't read the description "Big mistake!" Anyway, because it was the cartoon version I decided to give it to him right away and when he saw it he was so thrilled! I should have waited until Christmas. So he puts the movie in right away and I see this transformation into the 6 year old kid that he was when he first saw the movie. It was so cute! LOL. So has anyone made this kind of mistake and was disappointed but turned out it was exactly what was wanted? Do tell! :)

Oh, don't bother with lord of the rings. Harry Potter is better. I read the book long before they made it into this newest movie and the book was *yawn*.

What's so great about the hobbit? Short and no magic.

Beats me! I am actually shocked he was even allowed to watch it as a kid. We have only seen the Harry Potter movies that were on the tv. The girl (can't remember her name) is so much like me. They are so witty and caring kids! There's a kid in town that could be Harry's double! LOL. I would have to say I prefer Harry Potter as well.

LOL - always read the description very carefully hun. However, I have done the same myself, bid at the last moment on what I thought was a 12 inch tall dragon model, only to find when it arrived that it was only 4 inches tall. It is, however, a lovely piece and takes pride of place in my collection

Funny you should say that. I bid on a yoda that said in the description 12" and when I got it the actual size was 4" as well. I questioned the guy and he said it was from the 12" series! I never heard of it but whatever! I sent it back to him. LOL But yes I do have to read the description more carefully. It worked out good though cause that was the one my hubby wanted! :)

I have such an incedent you have described , i was searching for something to gift to my father at fathers day i got a silk tie for him , and while i was shopping for him i found a cool belt i bought it for myself , i ordered both the thiongs to be packed and the tie in a presentation paper. by my good luck both the boxes were same so i asked the person at the counter to paste a happy fathers day card on top of the tie pack , he did so. I gifted it to my father , when he opened i was stunned to see that it was the belt and it was the time when i was cursing the counter-boy.At that moment my father said "IO was thinking that you would give a tie but thank god you didnt because i never liked to were a tie its like a shakel, instead you give me this beautiful belt , and i was in need of one also" i was dumb struck and couldnt speak a word ,thank god and thanks to the person at the counter :)

Yeah, I know the feeling, tmlnmr. My ex was crazy about the movie Scarface, so when I had a chance to buy it for him I did. The only difference is that it was exactly what he wanted. He was thrilled and played that movie so much, I was glad I had my own tv and didn't have to watch it over and over with him, LOL.

Hmm...yes, actually something like that just happened yesterday. Also with ebay. I bought a LOTR Strider bust and sent payment through Paypal but the seller refunded it because he said he only ships to a confirmed paypal address...(that wasn't mentioned in the auction listing so I'm still annoyed with him). So I got really disappointed that I wasn't going to get it, and then I decided to go shopping on ebay again and use the refund and it turns out that quite a few items on the top of my wishlist popped up out of nowhere and I suddenly had enough funds to get them! :) VERY VERY HAPPY!

Hey omoidasu, Welcome here. That was a lucky break you got there. Or unlucky whichever way you want to see it. LOL That does sometimes get missed by the seller. It is annoying if your address isn't confirmed. I am glad it all turned out for you in the end! :)
