I have Dish Network right now but my phone company is offering a package of phone, internet, and DirecTV service for a very cheap price. I was just wondering who here has had experiences with DirecTV and if you could give me some pros about it. Thanks!

Yeah, it does happen with Dish Network too. It goes out when it storms sometimes.

We switched from DirecTV to Dish Neetwork about a year ago because we had nothing but problems with them, so sorry I can't give you any pros. They messed up our billing insanely bad, charged us for services we didn't even have and their customer service department was just horrible. I'll take my Dish Network over them any day!

I agree with you Soccermom, I had terrible experience with directv, I couldn't wait for my contract to be done so I could get rid of them, then when I called and tried to cancel, they argued with me for 20 minutes. At that point, I wanted to scream. I have dish network now and haven't had a problem at all. Directv is probably offering it for a lower price because they have such lousy service.

Yeah, when we called to cancel the service and told them we got a better deal through Dish they kept us on the phone for a half an hour trying to "sweeten the pot". By this point we were so frustrated that if they would've offered us free service for life we would've told them where they could shove it!

How awful! I'm sorry that you two had so much problems with them. Sounds like maybe I just ought to stay with Dish. Thanks!

Stay with the Dish Network. I have had Directv since they started, and had good luck until just recently. When they came out with the first HD DVR I got it, and was satisfied. Then they called me and said they would upgrade me with a new HD DVR (HD-20). I had trouble with it after three days. They sent a replacement, which I installed. It lasted four days. Then a technician came out and traded it again. Now on the second day it is showing signs of problems. I also have been billed for things I didn't order. Stay with Dish. I agree that when it's working, Directv is better than Dish Network. Good Luck.

i dont get it, are you with directv or with dish network, hdavis? :)
weather conditions affect the signal if you are using dish.
regarding hd dvr, dish network is currently running a special promotion. your price for the hd dvr is only $99 after the mail in promotion. all you have to do is to download a redemption form, send it back to dish network along with your bill, and they will apply $100 credit on your bill! dish network has to collect $199 for the upfront payment.
other customers have to pay $99 upfront and will have a free upgrade after the mail in credit.
with directv, they are running a promotion until end of december this year. they will give you $20 credit for a year.. they said, you will be saving $240 ($20 x 12mos).
but directv is having a commitment of 24 months, and is $10 more than the prices of dish network-- hence, you will spend $240 ($10 x 24mos).
so where is the savings?
