for me it always depends on what kind of grass im walking on. i dont like walking on poky stuff either and i hate to not see what i might be stepping on. so when i walk over grass (which doesnt really happen on a regular basis *g*) i always have to look down to see whats in front of me. i guess im afraid of stepping into insects or dog poo.
but do you actually wanna change something about your phobia? i mean, its not like its affecting your life very much, is it?
because if you really wanna change it and be able to walk over grass without fear im sure theres something you can do :)

I would LOVE to change something about this phobia- I just don't know how other than just stepping in grass- and I cannot bring myself to do that ;)

I used to have this when i was young i was stung by a yellow jacket and i ended up being very allergic to it and my leg swelled up so badly that i couldnt walk for about a week i am nto sure if my mother ever took me to a doctor or not but after that i wore shoes all the time in the house outside didnt matter but i was sure never to tred grass again barefoot. But recently i have found that shoes hurt my feet when i am walking and standing and so i try not to wear them as often if i dont have too so i recently started treading grass again, i watch every little step but i go barefoot. Good Luck to you

I don't care to walk barefoot on grass either because when I was little I stepped on a bee and got stung. I always have that thought in the back of my mind if I'm outside barefoot. Maybe something like that happened to you when you were small and you just don't consciously remember it.

yes, I could see how stepping on a bee would turn you off from walking barefoot period...lol. But that is another thing- I was always taught NEVER to go outside without shoes on- so it's probably a form of conditioning as well.

2 possibilities:
1: You were never allowed to play in the grass as a child (this would make walking in the grass feel weird and unnerving and could be solved simply with enough exposure to it)
2: As a child, you went off of the concrete and something bad happened (such as stepping on a sharp stick or getting bitten by ants) This would be more serious, and you may never be comfortable with it. (I have a fear of spiders that was fostered in the same way. One day as a child, I was bitten by spiders, and now I can't stand being around them, though nothing else does the same thing to me.)

Could definetly be the fact that I was not exposed to it much as a kid as I grew up in the city. But it isn't just grass- I can't step in anything...lol...when I am in the ocean- i have to have swim shoes on- i guess im just wierd ;)
