We also have a old VCR i want to even think that it might be one of the first ones made it used to belong to my hubbys parents and it is the best one we have been through about 3 other ones in the past 6 years they just didnt hold out too well. We also have been through 3 DVD players since they have come out. I dont know what we will do when old faithful finally gets too old. I guess we will ahve to go out and buy a new one they arent very much money anymore or we could replace our vast collection of vhs movies with DVDs which i doubt is possible and way too exspensive. I am sorry for your loss, and i wish you luck if you chose to buy a new one. LOL

Odd as it may sound, I'd suggest getting the VCR repaired.
1: If you like to watch VHS movies, you have to have a VCR.
2: They no longer make good quality VCR's; the ones they sell now are cheap pieces of crap for those who can't afford DVD players.
3: A good VCR that was made when VCR's were the best thing around will last a long time.
Simply: They don't make 'em like they used to.
Alternatively, you could buy an older VCR on ebay or somewhere, but be sure you trust the seller to give you one that isn't just as bad about eating tapes as the one you have now.

Toss the broken one, get your shoes on and go to the store a buy a new updated one. You will feel much better. Things can not last forever.
