This isn't about anyone or myself having a physical illness, it's about a living problem! I first experienced racism in 67 in Alberta Canada. Yup, the country and the province i was born in. You see i am Metis', but that doesn't matter to others because all North American Indians are treated the same. We are treated as less than equal. Ya, it still hurts to feel like you don't belong, but i was born here, so where do i go? Racism won't end in my lifetime. I wish i knew what i have to do to be an equal!

Oh bud, you are wonderful to me. I don't see you as a race but as a nice guy who likes to make me smile. I'm sorry people treat you badly. its not right. But there are people who just don't care about others. Try to find people who accept you as you are and forget the people who don't. Hugs to my knight!!

Something someone said reminded me of my past. I look for the good in people and i won't let this stop me. For awhile i had a problem with who to trust, but the many good people have helped me to trust more. I'm just being me, trying to fit in and to not be a threat to people and society. Hugs to you Princess and get well soon! Take care :)

Wasthe, Ah-ho, Aw-nee,Wâciye, Yatahey...didn't know you were a fellow native....I'm of many mixed bloods, but among them part Mexican, American and yes, Canadian Indian bloods ( my ancestors were all over the place...LOL) I was raised in the traditional, typical anglo world...meaning when I went to school I learned American history from the viewpoint of anglos...the great Manifest Destiny thing...and oh, my those "brave" pioneers battling their way to make a life and fighting the heathens along the way... Believe it or not, it wasn't until college that I learned REAL American history...from the Native viewpoint....wow--what an eye-opener--it made me realize what a crock of crap people are taught. But what gets me the most...when people find out I'm of Native blood, I usually get...and you probably do too..."My, it was terrible what this government USED to do to the Indians.." Used to?? Like hello...it's still happening...the prejudices, the hatreds..It was only a few years ago, that native people here in this country had FULL religious rights...especially those following the Native American church--ONLY A FEW YEARS ago!!! Gee, only took a few hundreds years to be recognized. The worse spots in our country for racism still are the Dakotas...where many native nations are...on reservations --the rez--(in Canada called reserves) As for when will it end...??????

It's sad i can't say anything in cree! I've lost my original language, but i still get to hear it if i visit my sister up north. She lives on a reserve with her husband. On a photo you have i thought you were wearing native jewelry! I'm glad to know this about you, and you know what my heart feels. I will put my head up and be me! Take care Pyewacket.

Yes...that's a photo of me wearing my crown jewels...my Navajo Squash Blossom necklace---I'm part Zapotec, Wiccoccomicco, and Cree...representing Mexican, American and Canadian indian bloods--told you my ancestors where all over the place..LOL..I don't know native languages either..just what I've picked up here and there---many native people are losing their gifts of knowing their own language unfortunately

You treat equally. That's why there are so many people who are from my country want to live in Canada. I hope they enjoy their life there, my relative on my mum's side are living there. She made donation to her dad and her mother and step mother last May,2007. Or my grandparents. Although she lives there, she still believes in Buddhism.

Life in Canada is very good and now and then we will encounter the ignorant people and that's all it is! Why should i be judged this or that when the person doesn't know me! Get to know me and you will see a good man. Take care Phon4u.

No matter what anyone tells you, you are equal. Don't ever let anyone tell you that you aren't. Racism will probably always be here but if you show that it doesn't bother you, then they will have no power over you.

That's a good question. I often laugh when people talk about illegal immigration. Because who is really from here? Only the native americans. My people were forced over here. The majority of americans took a ferry over here. The land of the free and home of the brave is founded on principles of theft and racism. We are not all equal. But there is something you can do. That is love your brother. Everyone is not racist. The more you love, the more people will start to understand that we are all create equal. So hold your head up and spread some love!

Bud, there are people that will never change, so you really can't do nothing about that. Just be yourself. What is a Metis?

I am mixed blood. I am french, cherokee and cree! We have been called halfbreed. I don't mind that term, but there are other derogatory terms not so nice. Take care Liranlgo.
