Does your Country have Daylight Saving?

Most, but not all States in Australia have daylight saving. Our state of South Australia has had it for many years.
When we have daylight saving, the clocks are adjusted by one hour, so that we get an extra hour of sunlight each day.
I love daylight saving, because it means it is quite light until late, maybe up to 8.30 or 9.00pm.
This year daylight is gong to start earlier & end later. I will begin in early October & not end until early April. This suits me fine.
There is a lot of controversary with daylight saving, as the Farmers don't like it. They say it messes up the times they need to tend to their animals, & their children have to get up in the dark to catch the bus to school.
What does your country do for daylight saving? Is it popular?

my area does.but when i lived in arizona, they didn't observe it,so when i called back east (united states)
i had to remember in summer that it had changed or i'd wake someone up LOL
but the degree of light change in arizona is so slight,it's not worth bothering to do so.

It's quite difficult getting the change right here too. A lot of people forget to change their clocks & are either too early or too late.

We do not have Daylight Saving here in Singapore as we are near the Equator.
Our climate is hot and humid. We are having summer throughout the years.
But I remembered that there was one year in the past whereby our country adjusted the clock faster by 1 hour to synchronise with the time in Hong Kong and our neighbour (Malaysia) also did the same.

Yes, most states in the US have daylight savings time, and I do not know anyone that it is popular with. It started earlier than usual this year, early in April, and it will go until the end of October or later. In theory, it is supposed to help the farmer. Give them more light for harvesting in the evening. Save electricity in town. I do not like it, because I work with children, and mentally handicapped. Hubby works with the elderly. It really drives them all crazy, because all of those categories do not have a mental comprehension of the concept. They have problems with daylight savings time, and with full moons, and changing barometers, too.

The farmers in Australia dont like daylight saving either, because their cows can't tell the time & adjust when they want milking.
A lot of people have problems with the full moon. You ought to hear my hubbys stories about the crims when it is full moon.

Yep, we have it in America. We spring forward and fall back every year. They have tinkered with it and yes it is changing. Not sure it is necessary really. Time is what it is. One state we have does not participate. Not sure how they got out of it. Maybe I should live there. Will be interesting to see what others have to say.

I thought that part of Illinois, and part of Arizona did not participate in daylight savings time. That way we could have a choice about which state we live in to avoid this arbitrary messing with our schedules. It just makes me really tired. I do not know how they get out of the time changes.

WE here in the u.s. have daylight savings time. In the spring we gain an hour and in the fall/winter we go back. Most people prefer spring daylight savings time cause they get more light but i prefer the fall daylight savings time. It gets dark earlier and i love it. I love the nighttime and not for partying either. Everything seems softer,it's hard to explain

Just thought the fellow myLotters might want to know, that the time difference (time zones) on the earth is actually because of the different "latitude" and has nothing to do with the "longitude".
Latitude = across --- time difference
Longitude = up and down ---- different climate

I remember this daylight saving time imposed on us when I was growing up. I think I was in grade school then. Our clocks were also adjusted one hour earlier. But I never understood then the value of DST. I cannot remember too how long we had it. So far there has never been another DST since that one time our government imposed the system.
As for me, I think there is nothing wrong with it. However, the farmers may have valid reason for their opposition of it.

So your government must have tried it just that once. I guess there was a lot of opposition.

Yes, we have it here in the US and although there are good points and bad. I like being able to enjoy the outdoors later in the night but it's also very difficult getting little ones to go to sleep when the sun's still up.

No, not Singapore. Singapore is located at the equator. We don't have 4 seasons and every of the 365.25 days is the same as the other. So no, no daylight saving.

Yes we have daylight savings time here in the USA. I love it! In the summer it doesn't get dark until about 9 pm and then in the winter it gets dark around 4 or 5 pm.

We have daylight saving time, and there things that I like about it, like in the spring when it changes, it's light out much later. It makes me feel like I've got more time to get things done outside. I don't care for it in the fall when it changes back, it starts to get dark earlier each day until it's dark at 5:30.

Is your state mainly agricultural? Many farmers oppose DLS.

Yes i live in Australia, Sydney and we do have daylight saving. We currently have changed from GMT+10 to GMT+11 meaning one hour forward. The sun sets earlier and rises earlier as well. It is almost completely dark by 6:00pm and only bright at around 7:30am.
But the birds wake up at around 5:00am so i dont get a good sleep anyways...i look forward to going back to GMT+10 =.= so tired

Daylight saving is horrible in Western Australia. I know some like it dark at 9:00pm, but it gets on your nerves when you would like to have a party (we only have one on Christmas Eve every year) and you want nighttime ambience.
I can never get to sleep with DST anyway. NO DST 4 EVA! He, he.

When I was in Western Australia many years ago, they did not have daylight saving. I hated it because the sun woke me up at 5.00am in summer.

You must be pleased that Argentina after experimenting with daylight saving, decided to go back to it.

We have it in Minnesota. It gets dark now around 9:15. I like the idea. This was originally started to conserve energy. As being light for so long not many lights would be used is the reasoning. The extended month will be rough though I feel. I hate the winters here. The sun doesn't rise till 8 a.m. then it sets at like 4:30. Ugggg.
HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

The extended month wont be rough for me, as I love DLS.
In our winter, the sun rises about 7.00am.

We do, but I don't really see the true point in day light savings.
