Is it embarassing for a man to cry over a girl?

This is for all the guys out there, but girls you could also state your opicion as well.
It has been said that "Men don't cry only women do." If a man cried it seemed to lessen their masculinity or lose their macho image. But i saw a lot of men who shed tears for various reasons. My brothers were in tears when my mom died. I saw a guy who literally cried because he lost a child. And other more reasons that we could say affect their being a man. But when a man cry over a girl it's another story.
I have a guy friend who was dumped by his girlfriend of 7 years. He couldn't stop crying but he only showed it to me. He said that it's stupid to cry over a girl and if others would see him crying it would be very embarrassing for him. So he's hiding his true feelings. With my exception he pretends to be cool about the break up.
For me even a man could cry over a girlfriend. It is being human. I don't think it would reduce a man's persona if he cries because his girlfriend left him. My friend won't listen to my advices though. He is so ashamed to let others know of what he really feels.
Have you ever cried over a girl? Girls, do you think it is okay for a guy to cry because of us? Your opinion may help a guy. :)

i am not ashamed that i cry over my girl. when she cry i hate it much because i have this feeling of guilt that i am the reason of her crying. i love my girl very much and i am proud that i can shed my tears for her

Men pretend to be strong, it's the nature of man to be strong outside but rather weak in the inside. there's no reason why men wont cry. as crying for the girls, maybe he can weigh things up, is he's girl worth crying for? if so then blow all that tears off. if not, why shed a tear for that stupid girl.

Well, they were together for 7 years. He's in love with her devoted his life to her and they were planning to get married before the year ends. Soemthing happened in the relatioship the past month that caused the break up but I'm quite sure the girl worth's the tear. She is crying also by the way.

for me, it is not embarassing for a man to cry over a woman. man is only human being, to cry is not to lessen masculinity this is to prove that you're a normal person, have heart and have everything. showing tears for your love ones when your sad, if your brokenhearted etc. it is great aspects of every individual especially man that he's really brave and that his heart is pure.
