Labels, don’t try and take me off I am here for life!

And if you do, you are going to pay the price!I’m talking about labels at the back of your clothes be it a dress, skirt, pants or a shirt. They always tend to scratch you after a few washes. Then when you try to take them off, you have got to be so careful not to damage your clothing.
Especially wool items like a knitted dress or jersey. Sometimes they sew them on in such a way, that when you try to unpick the sewing, the whole collar comes apart, and you have to stitch it again.
Why can’t they put them on the side, where they normally put the washing instructions label? Or just on a removable ticket!Do you also find it irritating, share your thoughts!

I used to be a serial label killer. I hate them
on my clothes. I hate labels of any kind. I used
to cut, rip, bite, etc., whatever it took to rid
my apparel of them.
Ah but those were the days. Nowadays manufactures
are catching on and as you mentioned, sewing them
completely in. Another technique they've implemented
is printing labels onto the material. That does do
away with the scratching but you I still am branded
with a label.
There are some manufactures that are friendly to our
plight. They have made labels that are as easy to
remove as ripping a check from it's book. Even some
people find that hard to do.

Oh Annie, we are twins! This has bothered me since I was a little girl. I hate those tags. I have such a hard time taking them off. I have put a few holes in my apparel just trying to take them off. They drive me up the wall. I cannot stand that scratchy feeling. In regards to this, I was even worse as a child. Some shirt companies are now lightly stamping the information into the fabric on the inside. You can barely see it. The only clothing company where the tags do not itch is Land's End, and I have been buying from them since I was a child. They have the secret. Apparel makers everywhere, do you hear me? Call Land's End at 1-800-963-4816!

Now you are talking!!! You wear this very pretty blouse and then you have got to make sure the labels at the back of the bra are neatly tucked in, otherwise the whole world sees your size not from the front but from the back!

Those labels are the first thing that come off the clothes I buy. I can't stand them. Once upon a time they were made of a soft cotton but now they are synthetic and very irritating. I can't put up with it and while I can't unpick them because the stitching is too small, and doing so can put a hole in your garment, I do have a fine pair of scissors that I use to cut the label off as close to the garment as possible.
Problem with getting rid of the label is, as you mentioned, the washing instructions get misplaced, or thrown in the bin.
Why do they do these stupid things. Is it the label designers' main purpose in life to irritate people?

Yes I totally agree with you , labels can be pretty annoying at times and I just don't know what to do with them lol..I find it very difficult at times and I ending up cutting them off. I do kinda know rouphly how to wash or handle most of my clothes and I make sure I keep a note of the ones that need dry cleaning or hand washing, because they are the ones that are most likely to get ruined if onbe doesn't take care of them isn't it lol?

You are so right, I take them of the minute I get home with a new piece of clothing, and if there are a special way to take care of the particular item I will put the label away for the instructions. But normally it is strait forward, and the label must go!!

I agree I hate labels rubbing against my neck. I have to admit I have ruined a few outfits removing the labels. I love that some of the companies are going away from takes and just printing it on the fabric. Glad to see I am not the only one that labels drive nuts*L*

I agree 100% Annie. I can sit there for hours trying to carefully take out little strands of thread from labels lol. They do irritate quite bad sometimes.
I've had the problem with the sewing at the back of the neck come apart too. Luckily I have a little sewing machine to help stitch them back together again!

I don't dare take mine off, I will put my clothes on backwards if I do.
I have taken some off because they itched only to find I was left with a hole.
They don't bother me anyway, not much bothers me.

Hi there Annie ...
I would remove them by scissors, I never liked labels. Maybe it would be a good idea if manufacturers start making printed or stamp-like label on the cloth itself with a distinct color instead of sewing them.
The only problem they'll encounter, if the T-shirt color is identical to the label's color. They may need 2 use more than one color for labels 2 make them distinct from the cloth or the T-shirt color. Then the question (Is it cost effective compared with the sewed labels??) may arise..
The other point, embroided or let me say sewed labels look classier honestly but as you said they may need 2 change the place so instead of sewing them on the neck they may do it somewhere inside in a manner that they're easy 2 read and look nice at the same time
Thank you very much for the post.

These labels used to be made out of a soft cotton fabric, often a satin that was smooth and didn't irritate the skin. But now......synthetic rubbish. Probably because the clothes industry is so competitive. Costs need to be kept down so we get more affordable clothing. But we pay the price by being at the mercy of the darstedly evil label makers.

The question here: Do we really wanna tear them off ???
If YES, then WHY ??
is it because they're itchy ?? or is it because the info and the brand on the label is no longer important ??? Well if label contains the name of the (United Colors of Benetton) or let us or (Etienne Aigner) would we still wanna remove it ?
I believe most of ppl wanna remove the label coz they're itchy so i guess (in my humble point of view) it is better 2 come up with a method that these labels won't scratch against your skin instead of tearing them off.
Thank you very much Annie xxx
