I can't think of a discussion! I've run out of ideas.

i too get days like this here at mylot.
i think i have started an award winning discussion, only to find no one even bothering to look at it, yet there are peoples getting responses for appaling topics like "my pants are red today, how about yours?"...!
it seems that some days, stupidity wins over intelligent conversation!

I know the feeling. I have such a hard time thinking up topics sometimes. Other days they come easy to me. Today I saw someone had made 900 posts in 5 days and I thought what the heck did they talk about*L* I guess we just have those moments.

As long as you get one response, you are alright. That validates it as a discussion. You never know, six months down the line someone will rediscover the discussion and it will have a whole new life. That has happened to me lately. I think the success of the weightier and more thoughtful questions is dependent on the time of day you post them, and how many friends you have on at that time. At the rate some people start discussions a perfectly good one can get buried under them in the course of fifteen minutes. Often discussions about myLot, or about starting discussions will generate more responses than any other topics."Most of my socks, however, are white." That is the longest response I could reasonably give to that discussion, and a response that short will not earn well. You do not get paid based on the number of responses, so I do not understand why people will start those kinds of discussions, or why they will respond to them, either.

I think we all through dry spells where one can't think of a terrific discussion to start---I too will come up with a great idea and post it and like...duh..nothing,...nada...no or little response....and yes I see discussions that are kind of silly and get tons of responses...go figure...But hey..you came up with this idea of a discussion of one running out of ideas..and you're getting responses...hehehe
Some of my ideas just spring at me for discussions topics...or something I heard on the news...

Hi. Just go to your local mall and people watch. That oughta give you some things to talk about.
Heres one...I saw a kid in the mall on a leash the other day. I thought to myself, that would make a good mylot discussion.
I haven't started that one yet.
I know what you mean about running out of ideas though. Sometimes I go a few days with no ideas. Then they all start flooding in.
I'm sure something will come to you.
Those people who get hundreds of responses to their very simplistic discussions...they have tons of loyal friends here. That's my take on it anyway.
Take care

LOL! Your observations are so correct. Sometimes I see some simple discussions but still generate a hundred plus responses. And there are some very deep provoking thoughts but have only quite a few reponse. My take on this is that because it is easier to respond to those discussions that do not require a person to really think deep. Sometimes I am one of them, admittedly. It's just that when I see this serious topics, sometimes I would like to join in but given the amount of time that I have for mylot, so I leave them out first. Then I go back to them when I have the time to give out a response to it.

I thought that Mylot HQ were coming down hard on those types of discussions, well one things for sure don't bother wasting your time and effort to reply to them because as soon as payday draws near they'll be wiped! We all have mental blocks. I can go days and days without having a good idea then the other day I came up with 5 beauties LOL!

I'm not good at all at coming up with topics for discussions which is why I tend to respond a whole lot more than I start discussions :) I don't however respond to 'what color socks do you wear' discussions :)

Alas I also are having one of those days, weeks and months. Its really hard when silly discussions are getting lots of attention and real discussions are getting nothing. I have been playing a bit to see what discussions are hits but I actually think its what day you post your discussion. Mylott seems really slow at the moment and a lot of responses have gone unanswered. goodluck hopefully you will a better run on ideas soon.
