I told my friends I would give the results of my MyLot test from this week.

On Monday I started 16 discussions, as each one received it's first response, I received one point in my rating. One did not get answered on Monday. On Tuesday, I left a comment on as many of my responders as I could, before I went to bed. My last discussion earned a point. I wrote over 160 responses. No points. I posted fthirty nine responses to different discussions. Forty points earned. Most of them were at least ten lines long in the preview box. They come out more like seven lines when you submit them. I earned $1.55 for those forty points. That is almost four cents per post on responses. The previous day I had earned over four cents per post. That is no point for comments, that is no extra points for the one discussion that had over fifty responses. Conclusion: You get one point or credit for the first response to your discussion. You get paid variously for each response. Longer is better. You do not get paid to make a comment on your own discussions. I also had an interesting thing happen while I was waiting for updates yesterday. I was credited with five cents. I am only speculating, as it did not show up as participation, images, or referral, that I receive a penny a piece for resolving the five discussions the night before. I still do not know the algorithm, I just know what is effective for me. I promise I will keep my new discussions down to maybe one or two a week from now on.

That was good observation,Gardengerty.I have had similar experiences but never knew that resolving the discussions could earn us money too:)I have had more money whenever I have posted long responses. But then typing out long responses to more than 10 discussions is really tiring for me especially as my daughter keeps interrupting me all the time.I only get limited time, but yesterday I sat and responded to almost 15 discussions and got a little less than 50 cents for yesterday.I must admire your patience though, responding to all discussions, commenting on responses, and then starting new discussions!Great job,Gardengerty.BTW,love your name too.Do you do gardening?

I do a little gardening, and I love growing things, but the name Garden Gerty was the name of a clown character that I used to portray in a Christian Clown Troupe. I will one day get out some pictures, or dress and have a new picture made and post Garden Gerty as my avatar. I do not usually comment on all of my responses, as it is in the guidelines not to go through and say "thank you", as you do not earn for it. I just wanted to be fair, as at least one of my friends had been told that that is how you earn. I do not have little kids around, and in the summer I only have a part time job. I neglected a lot for those two days, though. I just regard my myLot earnings as a little bit extra. I put it in Pay Pal, as at least in America they pay over 5% interest. I invest with a friend here from myLot, and earn a little more that way, and I do not worry about what I put in.

I am not 100% positive on the resolving issue, but it was all I could think of that would do something like that. I may run another test on another day. I also think that you get paid for commenting on a response in someone else's discussion. That would be another test as well.

Gerty you do get one point for commenting on a response in someone else discussion but only one it does not matter how many comments you make.

Dear GardenGerty You have shared a great information over here .. I am really thankful to you for your report .. I didn't knew that we won't get anything by commenting on responses... Thanks a ton for sharing all this information .. It means a lot to me :)

Thanks Gerty, that was interesting to see how it went for you. It's kind of nice to see a little of how the algorhythms are set up here. Somehow I doubt if we'll ever get it figured out 100% worth though. So, we don't get a point for starting a new discussion until it's been responded to? Huh! I always thought as soon as a discussion was started it earned a point even before it was responded to. (At least that's what I thought when I joined here last year...maybe it's changed?) Just wondering, did you do any ratings of any discussions as you were going along? I don't know if that gives us more on our own rating (next to our name), I don't think we get extra points for it, do you?

If I read a discussion, I always rate it. I do not think it helps me, but it helps the person starting the discussion. That is what our colored stars are based on. I guess tagging and rating could figure in as a fraction of what we do. Like you said, we will never have the complete algorithm, and I do not waste too much time worrying about it. I post the best I can. I was concerned this spring when my cents per post ratio went down a lot. I went a long while making only 1.5 cents a post or so. When my daughter joined, she did not post much, but she earned her first dollar with 30 points. She posts very lengthy responses. I had another friend share similar information, so I went back to consciously trying to make longer posts, and my earnings went back up.

Great advice, Garden Gerty! :) I noticed that I lose money and time when i comment on my own discussions... counter productive is the phrase that I'm looking for... it's much more lucrative to go hunting for some of the 50,000 discussions that hve no or little response and try to add some good content to them if possible... I've also started to upload more photos and such... they earn for you, too! :)

Apparently uploading photos to interests earns quite good money. It's too time consuming for me though.

Wow, GardenGerty that was some interesting observations that you have made. I don't know if I could have kept all of that information straight to share with everyone. I want to thank you for not only taking the time to do research this information but also thank you for taking the time to share this with everyone. Some things that you shared with us I already knew. Like longer is better. I had noticed that I earned more when I made my responses longer. I didn't know how much you earned for each discussion you started but I knew that it couldn't have been too much.

It is a point, like a response. I just find that I can respond a whole lot more than I can create interesting discussions, and a lot faster as well.

Hi, Gerty! Wow, quite a research you made, huh? Nice experience! :D I really hope no-one considers this against the rules, as it's very useful to everyone. But it seems that some people freak out when one talks about earnings in here. I think it's silly as it can be, but what can we do? I certainly don't earn as much as you do for each point or credit you get here. Maybe I should try it myself. Stay a few days without creating a discussion, and keep track of how many responses and lines I wrote. We're not very sure about it, but if the earnings for posts are based on how many lines you write, it's pretty difficult to control, as each browser and screen resolution will display things in a different way. Maybe they count the amount of words or characters by message posted? I still think it's silly as I see many people talking nonsense things only to fill up the response and make more lines. Quantity is not related to quality at all. Anyway, thanks for sharing the results of your test! Cheers!

Well I can't figure it out either and I just carry on as I have always done I know we don't get paid for commenting back in our Discussions but I am not bothered about that I just do not figure how they pay lol You certainly kept me busy lol

I have also performed the same experiments as you and agree with all of your results except one. One day I opened 3 new discussion and I did not make any other postings except comments to my own 3 discussions and I received a significant earning amount for that day just be keeping my discussions going and receiving multiple back and forth comments from the responders.

I never noticed that I got more earnings on best response days. I feel like everything I said earlier this week was shot all to pieces by this last update, though, as my earnings were poor compared to what I put into it yesterday. I am wondering if there is a key word component we do not know about yet? I remember when the blue words used to be here, and I thought I earned more then.

BTW I forgot to add on the day I only commented I did receive a couple of Best Responses so that could have also added to my earning on that day.

gerty I give up. My earnings were, for the third time this month, less than one cent per posting to be exact the three days were as follows :$0.0090. $0.0091 and $0.0086. What a difference from even one months ago not even one cent per posting myLot is going downhill fast. I have always said that it was the fun and my friends not the money...(what money?) tha kept me here but even that is getting less - friends, discussions, earnings integrity of myLot all disappearing. Now biogtry, rudeness are re-appearing.

LOL, gerty. Now whay did I miss this thread. I was really in need of getting an assistant to help me clear out my emails. It kept adding up by the hundreds everyday. "groan" So this is the result of your experiment. I honestly can't figure out still how mylot algorithm works. All I know is that they are paying less nowadays. I can still remember the first time I enter this community, the earnings are quite satisfactory. This month will be my lowest earnings since I joined mylot. :)

You are watching everything very closely, GardenGerty. Thank you for publishing it. I just know that now I make about one cent per post. This was different at the beginning even though I made quality posts. Then I did not average one cent but now I do. Sometimes I get a couple of pennies for pictures. If I look at how many I uploaded I get a penny for every other photo that I upload. I am happy with my results. You must be a book keeper at heart. Happy mylotting.

Well done GardenGerty as promised I said I would check on your results and are very glad I did. You made sense from the posting that you gave me but now that the results are in I see no doubt in doubting you.lol. Its great to be able to break it down like that and thankyou for wording it so well. I guess it goes to show when responding make sure it counts. I also hope others will read this and keep there postings down and try and make them topics you can put some time into instead of the silly whats you favourite colour post.lol

Thank you for sharing your experience with us.It seems you are very active in my lot community.Although I have been there more than two weeks,I am still not familiar with their rules. One thing is certain,'the longer, the better'.I feel its not easy to earn money in my lot.We need time, energy, wisdom and skills.Someone told me its not difficult to earn more than 150 US dollars per month as long as you konw the rules.I guess its only a dream for me cause I dont have much spare time despite my full-time job.But I am still very happy to be here, its a good place to make new friends and widen your horizon, isnt it?

$150.00 per month? Thats ridiculous. No one can earn that, unless they have a huge downline of active referrals.

Thanks for the update. At one time, they paid 3 cents to post. No more. Nothing. Maybe a cent, when replys come in. I don't think we will ever figure out how it is done. So, we may as well not try. Just enjoy eachother and stick to the rules.

This just about summarises what other My Lotters have told me. Awhile back I posted a similar discussion, although didn't do a "test" like you. Although there were a wide variety of opinions & methods as to what earnt, with some people even insisting that they were right, when I summarised everything, it came out much he same as what you have discovered. And that is, you earn from responses. You only earn for one response to your discussion. It doesn't matter how many responses you get. I guess that is why so many people post mulitple discussions, that are often one liners, hoping they will get just one response. Thank you very much for doing this test, & letting us know the results.

I think there are quite a few that will benefit from your experiment. I'm not too perturbed about the money side of things but have benefited where not to spend too much time on, and therefore not getting through all of my posts! Thanks GardenGerty for doing this for your friends!

Sounds about right to me..I was commenting on my comments alot..and found it wasn't making a difference in how much I earned. But after responding to alot of other discussions I made more..so participating in others discussions is more lucrative then posting your own?
