Do you want to contribute to life

Last night I saw a television program about basketball star Shaquille O'Neal and how he has started a program to help overweight children lose weight and also to change the diet that is used in most schools and institutions. I thought it was great to see someone of such influence using his influence to effect positive change. This got me to thinking what can I do to effect positive change and what passions do I have? I guess that I have several. One is about health and that there is much more ability to cure and prevent disease using all natural methods than there is with conventional medicine. Another that I feel is important is about communities keeping their streets both clean and safe. It never ceases to amaze me how inconsiderate people can be about dumping trash in front of someone's living quarters as I go to take my dog out and find new pop cans, beer cans and food containers thrown outside every day. Also I see children unattended and riding bicycles in areas in which are unsafe. All of these things bother me but what can I do, as I'm only one person. Well, I guess that I can do my best to make people aware and also to make sure that I do my part to educate people and do the best that I can myself. Maybe some day I can start a blog or a forum to help bring awareness and effect positive change. What can you do?

I have been thinking about this for a long time, as I do have lots of thoughts that's been coming to my mind. Here in my country, poverty is one of our main problem, next to politics. Lots of kids goes to work at a very young age, just to help their parents bring something home to eat. Some of them has never enjoyed their youth, as they got exposed to child labor. Never had a chance to go to school, or if they did, there's a big tendency that they'd stop from schooling. For me, I believe that these children could've been something or someone, someday. I just wished that do get some attentions more from our government, instead politicking here and there. But I'm also thankful to those who'd already shared their part and helped some of these kids to get educated, I do wish that someday I'd do my part also to give inspiration and motivate them..

I am sure you will come up with something someday to motivate and inspire the children of your country.

Hey Keith, I watched the Shaq show last evening and boy has he got his work cut out for himself; He'll need to adjust the parents habits as well as get them poor youngsters to lose weight . With regard to your neighborhood trash situation,Why don't you consider contacting the local Boyscout troop to help clean it up, They have certain requirements now to do environmental projects and this could help you both .Once cleaned up it could possibly inspire the neighbors to keep it that way .You may also speak to the town or city and have them put a few trash barrels chained to the tree belt in the neighborhood.

Thank you for your suggestion. I don't think it is the neighbors so much as people driving by and thinking that they can just clean out their cars by throwing their pop cans and other trash into the lawn in front of the apartment building that I help to manage. It is very annoying.

I admire Shaq for what he is doing right now. I think I might have missed his show. Childhood obesity is out of control. We all have passions. Mine is elementary education. I am focused on two children right now and I help them quite a bit despite the fact that they live nearly two hundred miles away. I find it easier to help one person at a time than to exhaust myself trying to find solutions for the world.

Even helping one person at a time is effecting positive change. I have done that for years. I just feel that with my writing abilities and other ways of communicating that I can do more.
