I'll agree with Pallidyne on this one. The buildings were magnificent, but they were only a really cool part of a great skyline. I rememeber watching them go down. I remember seeing the footage of the people running for their lives. I remember watching coverage of the firefighters and EMS crews...
Me any my buddies watched it all from our Ambulance station. Do you really think we gave a flying flip about the buildings?
When I left the ambulance station, I headed to my National Guard Armory. I knew no Guard unit had been called out, and it would be some time before one would... but my years of Active Army on 1 hour recall took over, so I just went.... and not because of a couple of buildings.
Islamist Extremists have taken out many structures that had people in them. The U.S.S. Cole, Kobar Towers, Paddy's Pub and the U.S. Consolate on Bali... We didn't mourn a ship, or a nightclub, we mourned people who were killed by bacteria.
We went to war. Not against a single nation, we didn't have that luxury. We went to war against all Islamist Extremists everywhere. The major battlefields started in Afghanistan. Iraq also became a battlefield. Today they are still the major battlefields and Iraq has become the epicenter of the war against Islamist Extremists.
Why don't you challenge the Islamist Extremists who have congregated in Iraq? Why don't you demand that they pull out? Why don't you accuse them of killing thousands of Iraqis? Do you think if the U.S. pulled out, they would? Do you think they should unilaterally pull out?
If not, you are just another "Blame America First" hatemonger who sides with those who make a public spectacle of beheading prisoners.
If you are against the war on Islamist Extremists, then be against it... all sides of it. If you are on the side of the Islamist Extremists, that is your right... but admit it. If you are on the side of the new Iraqi government, then admit that. Whichever side you are on, admit it... or just admit you have a mindless hatred for Americans and it really doesn't matter what we do.

Now, very few Americans think it was right to attack Iraq. Even at the time, it was not accepted as the right thing by many.
We do not get to vote on every decision made by our
government. Our reprentatives do that and most of them feel deceived.
Now, it would be wrong for us to leave Iraq. We messed it up and we should build it back up.
